Danny McLewin of Psychemagik (UK) is visiting Duddell’s for a unique audio and visual show, where he will be joined by Hong Kong’s veteran dj Roy Malig and Potato Head’s Johnny Hiller and Saulty.
Psychemagik, known for their beautiful production work, prolific remixing skills, obscenely vast record collections and transcendent mixtape journeys, are being heralded as a truly unique and positive presence across today’s music scenes.
The UK duo is unique in their perspective; not only is their ability to seek out rare musical treasures from the worldwide musical domain but there’s also a supernatural nature to their curation. Psychemagik are infamous for their production technique as their DJ skills, their prolific edits laced with subtle studio production re-interpreting vintage gems and giving them a contemporary bounce.
Their remix output includes Fleetwood Mac, Bryan Ferry, Yves Simon, Roisin Murphy, Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Haim, Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, Paul Weller and Metronomy, with FACT mag summing up their skills best when they observed their “ear for mind-expanding dance floor mysticism”.
It is this incredible ear for musical treasures and their dedication to the art of digging that has lead to the success of their compilation on Eskimo Recordings; Psychemagik Presents: ‘Ritual Chants’. Released November 2016 it was a stellar earthbound and outer space odyssey, respectfully embellishing Psychemagik’s taste and passion for the wonderful, the sublime and very often unusual.
This follows in the footsteps of their previous compilation ‘Magik Sunrise‘ voted the No.1 Compilation Of the Year at Piccadilly Records. Their latest compilation offering is their obscure cover version edits album entitled “Undercover Lovers” featuring weird and wonderful covers of tracks such as “All Night Long” by Lionel Richie and “Eyes Without a Face” by Billy Idol. October 2019 saw the release of their long awaited debut album – released on their own “Psychemagik” imprint along with a dancefloor banger released mid summer on Catz & Dogz label Pet Recordings.
Housed in Duddell’s Salon and Garden Terrace, this one-night only event is supported by Perrier-Joüet.
