We are really excited to be partnering with the Women of Hong Kong to bring to you this power panel featuring four successful product-based founders. Whether you are running a product-based business, or if your clients are product-based business owners, this event is for you.
This is an opportunity to learn from founders who have built and scaled their sustainable product-based businesses; navigating everything from pricing, inventory, manufacturing, supply chain, branding and beyond. We’ll explore what it means to create products that are high-quality in design, functionality, durability, and user experience; and have considered sustainability and circular models – and how planning for scalability is the key to accommodate growth efficiently.
Our founders will share how they lean into sustainable practices and initiatives across their business operations, what investments they make to innovate, if they are data-driven in their decision making and how they optimise their supply chain for continuous improvement.
Expect to leave this panel session inspired by the experience of our founders, and armed with key insights on how you can build a profitable business, get strategic, and still prioritise other aspects of your life which are essential to your wellbeing, in this wild ride of entrepreneurship!
About the speakers
Christine Chow
Tove and Libra, Founder
Christine Chow majored in Visual Arts at Brown University, before landing at a boutique trend forecasting agency in New York City. She has spoken on colour trends and consumer insights at design trade shows around the US, and also written lifestyle articles for The New York Times. Eventually seeking to be closer to family as well as the developing hub of Asia, Christine returned to Hong Kong in 2009 and joined the family’s apparel production business, relishing the challenge of learning how to turn design concepts into reality. During this time, she also developed a greater understanding of corporate environmental responsibility and social compliance standards, especially within the fashion industry.
As a mother of two, Christine believes supporting sustainable and entrepreneurial businesses is crucial for future generations. Noticing that Hong Kong was saturated with many global commercial brands, she decided to leverage her skills and experience – while getting back to her creative roots – through launching a sustainable fashion brand that became Tove & Libra. The collection elevates eco-friendly materials into modern, elegant womenswear, with a commitment towards reducing waste from design through to production. The brand also supports global reforestation by planting one tree with every customer purchase. Tove & Libra has been featured in South China Morning Post, Prestige and Elle Singapore, and has a flagship boutique at PMQ in Hong Kong as well as a popup at K11 Art Mall.
Josephine Chui
The Crystaling, Founder
Josephine Chui is the founder and chief designer of The Crystaling, and an influential member of Women of Hong Kong. Her jewellery pieces are handcrafted in Hong Kong, and can be found at top hotels and private clubs, including Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Aberdeen Marina Club. She has also held events and workshops at prestige venues such as Carlyle & Co, Rosewood Hotel, Conrad Hotel, Soho House, Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Football Club.
Beyond creating ready-to-wear collections, Josephine also provides bespoke design pieces to her clients, handcrafting personalised jewellery that defines their unique personality and their fengshui needs.
Natalie Chow
KIBO, Founder
After 15 years behind multinational fashion and beauty brands, Natalie left her marketing job to start her sustainable sneaker brand, KIBO, with her husband Simon. With a family background of shoe-manufacturing of over 50 years, the couple wanted to do things differently – with a positive impact for the people and the planet.
With a passion to raise social awareness on climate change and modern slavery, the couple searched far and wide for earth-friendly materials with social responsibility in mind. They also advocate transparency throughout their production process, whilst donating a portion of their proceeds to an NGO that fights against human slavery.
Rebecca Chung
Princess Brows, Founder
Rebecca Chung is the founder of several pioneering semi-permanent make-up and wellness brands, including Princess Brows, High Society Skin Clinic, Gel Lashes, House of PMU, and Glowagen. She is also a semi-permanent makeup specialist.
