The “Garden of the Artisans Festival 2019” (“GOA Festival”) will be held at Y Loft, Youth Square from 6 to 8 December (Friday to Sunday). With the theme of “Cherish Our Planet Earth”, the GOA Festival will bring together around 60 young artists and art groups around the world to channel their concerns for global environmental problems into self-curated exhibitions in the guest rooms of Y Loft, showcasing artworks in various forms to call for cherishing our Earth and our community by interacting with visitors.
The GOA Festival attracted around 60 young artists to participate in this year, they include:
1. Esteemed by the press as the most potential new artist, Asano Ayaka was graduated in Osaka University of Arts and started to organise her first exhibition since 2011. She has been organising her own exhibitions in different countries including Seoul, Taichung, Busan and Osaka etc. During her career of being an artist, she has been obtained various awards and achievements. The major media of her creation is etching by recycling newspapers and cardboards.
2. Lee Hajin is a Korean artist aged 25, who graduated from Printmaking at Hongik University. Though participated in various art exhibitions since 2015 after graduation, she is considered as an emerging artist in Korea’ art community. She has participated in exhibitions including Hongik University Street Art Group Exhibition, Korea Natural Art Association, Asia Students and Young Artists Art Festival and Asia Hotel Art Fair Seoul etc.
And two participants who also participated in Youth Square’s “Dunhuang Youth Internship Programme”:
3. Karen Lai Garling, who has traveled through South East Asia to learn the ancient Malaysian photographic printing method Cyanotype and the batik technique in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
4. Ray Hui-man, who has a major in Art History and German. She taught herself oil paintings and printmaking and her works explore the complex emotions of humans as well as the dialogue between humans and their living environment.
Apart from the exhibitions, green workshops for promoting environmental protection and guided tours for giving visitors the opportunity to understand more about the art exhibition will also be organized in GOA Festival. Together with live music performs by local musicians and bands at the lawn for sharing their favorite music with the general public.
All of the above activities will be opened to public participation for free to let the public feel the fun and relaxed atmosphere of culture and art.
