Blue Bottle Coffee Wan Chai is hosting a fascinating event from 1 to 7 April. The Akihiro Woodworks in Hong Kong exhibition will showcase several pieces from the internationally renowned Akihiro Woodworks studio, known for its production of beautiful handmade wooden cups – which it refers to as jincups. It offers the public an opportunity to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship of Japanese artisans and see their skilful woodworking creations up close.
Japanese woodworking brand Akihiro Woodworks has collaborated with Blue Bottle Coffee on several occasions, most notably on the highly acclaimed jincup. Its craftsmanship has attracted attention both in Japan and internationally, with the jincup becoming a coveted collector’s item. Each release of its products generates enthusiastic demand from coffee enthusiasts, making them highly sought after. Designed to preserve the aroma of coffee, the jincup represents Jin Akihiro’s connection with nature as he enjoys coffee outdoors.
In addition to numerous exhibitions throughout Japan, Akihiro Woodworks’ creations have been exhibited in Paris and New York, earning admiration from the art community. A solo exhibition was recently held in Tokyo’s Isetan Shinjuku in mid-March.
Now, the Tour of Asia Exhibition: Akihiro Woodworks in Hong Kong comes to the Blue Bottle Coffee store in Wan Chai. This exhibition is the first time that the brand’s works, including the famous jincup and other handicrafts, will be shown to the Hong Kong public. Akihiro Woodworks has released a limited edition of 50 Hong Kong-themed Jincups. They feature the Blue Bottle logo on the base, along with the words “Hong Kong”, making them highly collectible.
