Children’s charity Bali Children’s Project has just launched a new fundraiser to help provide basic staples for families in Bali.
The Bali COVID-19 Appeal is being run by Bali Children’s Project to help families who already live in poverty under normal circumstances, but have felt the effects even further.
As Bali comes to terms with the fact that tourism may take a while to recover, impacts are also being felt in more ways than one.
Local charity Bali Children’s Project, who run several different programs to help children access education, has seen the effects on families who are already living in poverty.
Anastasia Rahayu, Sponsorship Manager for Bali Children’s Project gave some insight.
“Many families who are already living in poverty are finding life even harder.”
“There is less work all over Bali. Even families who normally make 5 USD a day are finding their income reduced.”
“Many families make their living doing manual labor work, but not there is not so much work around, they are struggling even to buy the basics.”
“Other families, such as taxi drivers have had their rented cars taken from them as they can’t pay the monthly rental fee.”
The appeal asks donors to help donate any amount they can, with all donors receiving a thank you photo from the family they have helped.
“Once the donation arrives, our team can buy the supplies and deliver them to the families.”
“It will make a huge difference and drastically ease their burden.”
The food packages include all basic staples from eggs to rice and are aimed at giving the families enough to live for over a month.
