Chairman and Founder of Bamboo Village Trust

Arief Rabik is a world-renowned expert in all things bamboo: from forestry and harvesting, to processing and production, both in public and private sectors. Trained in environmental science, Arief applies his knowledge into building sustainable communities through Bamboo Village Trust, a foundation aimed at restoring the economy and building a sustainable future for both the community and nature.
Bamboo Village Trust uses bamboo agro-forestry to restore degraded land across the tropical belt, resulting in a reduction in carbon emission and providing rural villages with sustainable sources of income. Partnering with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the initiative has managed to restore two million hectares of degraded land with beautiful bamboo. But Arief and the Bamboo Village Trust are only just getting started. Partnering with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, their mission is to restore 20 million hectares of land beyond Indonesia and across the tropical belt…
