I'm an Angel Fundraiser Night
A Bali institution, the charity fundraiser night – I’m An Angel at KU DE TA is back on 15 June 2013.
This fabulous night of amazing food and world-class entertainment, coupled along with an auction is all designed to raise funds for this charity that empowers remote and needy Balinese communities.
For 1.8m IDR guests will not only feast on excellent food, dance the night away to soulful music and have the opportunity to acquire unique items at the auction, their contribution will go a long way towards assisting I’m An Angel’s efforts. Non-dinner guests can also pledge donations to any or all of these specific programmes.
The exciting roster of top chefs behind this year’s menu include Kevin Cherkas, chef and restaurateur behind the much-awaited Cuca in Jimbaran, Bali who honed his skills in iconic Michelin-starred restaurants such as Arzak, El Bulli and Daniel; Martin Boetz, the successful Executive Chef of Sydney and Melbourne’s award-winning Longrain and the upcoming Cooks Co-Op in New South Wales; Gilles Marx, chef and founder of Amuz Gourmet in Jakarta; James Ephraim, Executive Chef and co-owner of the recently launched Mozaic Beach Club in Seminyak, Bali; and Andres Lara, one of Asia’s top pastry chefs and the Executive Pastry Chef of Pollen in Singapore. They will join KU DE TA’s very own chefs Philip Davenport, Ben Cross and Will Goldfarb to collectively craft a decadent 6-course menu.
The funds raised will go directly into I’m An Angel’s initiatives in the areas of education, water safety and nutrition. These programmes were created together with local communities, ensuring that the Balinese themselves play an active role in addressing pressing concerns and receive aid for their most immediate needs.
In education, I’m An Angel fundraiser at KuDeTa will provide practical school packages consisting of stationeries, school and sports uniforms, shoes and socks. They will also award scholarships for bright students to pursue further education.
In the impoverished areas of Northern and Eastern Bali, people have little access to clean water, especially during the dry season. To improve this situation, I’m An Angel is planning to build rain harvest tanks and water basins.
Poor nutrition is a common issue in remote hamlets where people lack the financial means to meet their most basic needs. I’m An Angel has an on-going programme distributing foods such as rice, salt, sugar, cooking oil, noodles, tea and vitamins to these communities. Nutritional food supplements such as eggs, soybean porridge, bottled milk and Vitamin B Complex will also be distributed to students.
