Dig out your green wigs and clover-covered shirts, it's St Patrick's Day in Bali and we're getting our Guinness on at these Irish bars and beer fests.
Did you know, around 5.5 million pints of Guinness are consumed each day around the world, and on St Patrick’s Day, that number rises to a whopping 13 million?! If that isn’t reason enough to join in on Ireland’s raucous festivities, we don’t know what is, so here’s our roundup of the best spots in Bali to get your shamrock on.
Canggu Club
To celebrate St Paddy’s Day in true Irish style, the Canggu Club is hosting a beer fest on their shamrock-green grass, together with a sunset bazaar, live entertainment and plenty of nibbles to soak up all that ale. There’ll even be an Irish jig-off, a slip n’ slide, pin the shamrock on the leprechaun, beer, beer, more beer and some beer drinking games for good measure. The festivities will be kicking off at 5pm until 9pm – or for as long as you’re still standing.
Canggu Club, Jalan Canggu Club, Canggu, p. +62 361 848 3939. Open daily from 6am – 10pm
Gracie Kelly’s
As Bali’s first [and only] original Irish pub, Gracie Kelly’s is always a top choice for a St Patrick’s Day showdown. But now there’s one more reason to head on down to this knee-slapping, toe-tapping Irish haunt at the Bali Dynasty Hotel – they’ve just been voted as one of the Top 15 Great Irish Pubs outside of Ireland – now that’s quite an achievement! Get there early because from 7pm the place is set to be a sellout, and you won’t want to miss the Gracie Kelly’s leprechauns, Irish entertainment and food and drinks promotions.

The Orchard Bar & Restaurant
Though plenty of bars in Bali serve the Indonesian version of Guinness, The Orchard is one of the few pubs on the island that serves the original, along with the largest selection of draught beers and ales on tap. If that wasn’t enough to whet your whistle, The Orchard is doing a special deal on Ireland’s treasured brew especially for Paddy’s Day, offering up their homemade Steak & Guinness pies [served with a creamy chive mash] alongside a pint of pure Guinness for just 175k, whilst pints alone are just 89k all day and long into the night.

The Plumbers Arms
A favourite local hangout for Bali’s expats and long-time residents is The Plumbers Arms on the outskirts of Canggu. Maybe it’s the Guinness and Kilkenny on tap that keeps us coming back every other night of the week, or maybe it’s the Sunday roasts, Wednesday night quiz nights or the daily Premiership matches on the big screen. Whatever the reason, for St Patrick’s Day we’ll be there for an Irish pint and a homemade pie for just 160k, followed by a few games of pool, darts and classic pub entertainment.
The Plumbers Arms, Jalan Raya Banyar Anyar No. 8, Kerobokan, p. +62 851 0044 9132. Open daily 7am – 11pm.
So whether you’re planning on going all-green or simply want to sup on Ireland’s best brew – Happy St Patrick’s Day, Honeys!
