Caffeine addicts, prepare for a new high! Latte, flat white, cappuccino or traditional kopi; however you drink the black stuff, celebrate the bean at Singapore’s first ever coffee festival at the F1 Pit Building
Singapore sure ain’t short of coffee houses; from side street kopitiams to hipster cafes and big name chains, we just can’t get enough of the black stuff. In fact, one of our favourite topics of debate within Honeycombers HQ is where to find the best brew on the island; our list of hot new cafes never seems to be short of deserving entries! And don’t even get us started on whether to order a latte, cappuccino, or mocha (we’d be here all day). Thankfully, the coffee craze looks set to continue with the latest festival to hit our shore – The Singapore Coffee Festival. This long overdue celebration of all things bean sounds like one caffeine high we do not want to miss.
What You Can Expect
Presented by DBS and hosted by The Straits Times, the four-day extravaganza takes place between the 9 and 12 June and is a must-visit for lovers of all things coffee. Over 100 exhibitors from Singapore’s coffee and cafe world are set to take over the F1 Pit Building (we’re talking Common Man Coffee Roasters, Chye Seng Huat Hardware, Oriole Coffee, and Killiney Kopitiam, to name but a few) and will be giving you the lowdown on exactly what it takes to produce that perfect cuppa Joe. Participate in workshops, learn from expert baristas, and celebrate Singapore’s kopi traditions – all while sipping your way through numerous top coffee blends.
Highlights We’re Hyped For
Though we all know what a great cup of coffee tastes like, we’re not so sure we know how to make one. For the uber keen looking to master the art of the perfect brew at home, be sure to attend “The Labs” sessions. Here, you’ll pick up insider tips and tricks from top baristas and industry experts, while learning the basics of specialty coffee making and latte art. You’ll have no excuses for resorting to a cup of instant after this! Aside from coffee chat, you’ll also find plenty of other trending topics up for discussions with various Straits Times journalists; want to know how to take instagrammable photos? Or which local restaurants are worthy of a Michelin star? Or what the current hottest gadgets you need to own are? Listen in or join the debate (over a cup of coffee, naturally).
Don’t forget to look out for the local coffee players as well; it wouldn’t be a Singaporean coffee festival without a shot of kopi culture! Top tip: If you’re not au fait with how to order yours, get up to speed using our Singlish guide before you arrive.
Hold up! There’s loads more aside from coffee to enjoy; expect delish nosh from some of our favourite cafes (the likes of Two Bakers, Hungry Heroes, Symmetry, The Tuckshop, Curbside Cafe, and many more, will be rustling up tasty treats throughout the festival), live music courtesy of hot local talent, and film screenings that are not to be missed! Where do we sign up? Right here actually…
