Here’s a little-known fact about Starbucks: Beyond the handwritten chalkboard menu is a whole different world of secret drinks you never knew existed. Created by dedicated baristas and fans worldwide, the Starbucks Secret Menu lists a dizzying array of ingenious concoctions using ingredients already in global coffee chain’s arsenal — and you can actually order them from a Starbucks near you (we tried it!). All you have to do is to tell the barista what to put in your drink (recipes are available on the website), and you’ll have yourself a unique cuppa Joe. Below, we spotlight our favourite creations to give you an idea.
Nutella Frappuccino
Do we want our favourite chocolate spread as a blended beverage? Um, yes! The nutella frappuccino is the perfect post-lunch treat, and you can have it with two pumps of mocha syrup, one pump of hazelnut syrup and whipped cream on top of your regular coffee frappuccino.
Cha Cha Latte
Serious green tea lovers, this one’s for you. Chai and matcha green tea may seem like an odd pairing, but to our (pleasant) surprise, both flavours complemented each other exceptionally well. Take your traditional green tea to the next level by adding one pump of chai syrup (in place of your regular syrup) to the matcha green tea latte.
Cotton Candy Frappuccino
Now here’s something for the sweet tooth that won’t get your hands dirty. Take your vanilla bean frap to girly new heights with an additional pump of raspberry syrup. It looks and tastes ridiculously sweet and cheery, much like its candy counterpart.
Ariana Grande Frappuccino
It does sound like an actual Starbucks drink, doesn’t it? So it’s hardly a surprise that a certain Starbucks barista came up with it. It includes one pump of mocha syrup, extra mocha chips, whipped cream and caramel drizzle in a cotton candy frappuccino (see above) all blended together. You’ve got one less problem now that this Starbucks drink is in your life.
London Fog
Earl grey tea with two pumps of vanilla and caramel syrup each is as classy and as close to London as we can get. Let the tea brew for a minute, remove the tea bag and enjoy!
Cookies & Cream Frappuccino
Anyone with an intense chocolate craving should probably grab one of these. The crowd favourite gets it right every time with white mocha sauce, chocolate drizzle and regular whipped cream blended with a chocolate cream chip frappuccino – what could be better than that?
The Undertow
If you’re looking for a quick pick-me-up, look no further than The Undertow, made with three pumps of your favourite syrup (we recommend vanilla), a dash of milk and two shots of espresso.
Cookie Dough Frappuccino
Just like cookie dough, this beverage is dangerously addictive. Extra java chips, one pump of mocha syrup, one pump of hazelnut syrup and whipped cream added to your chocolate cream chip or java chip frappe will give you all the deliciousness of this beloved ice cream flavour in drink form.
Popeye Tea
Add one scoop of matcha powder to your unsweetened china iced green tea, then blend. This beverage clearly resembles the magical spinach concoction that Popeye has, but there are no veggies involved in the making of this drink (fret not, veggie haters).
Ferroro Rocher Frappuccino
Mixing two pumps of mocha syrup, one pump of hazelnut syrup and whipped cream to your chocolate cream chip or java chip frappe gives you the glorious liquid form of the gold-wrapped chocolate treat.
