From Europe to Australia to Morocco, KL, and now Bali, you can’t say Chloe Wynne isn’t a well-seasoned traveller. This spunky lady has not only traversed the globe, she’s also shopped it – and done it impressively well.
We rifled through her closet (don’t say you would pass that opportunity up!), talked to her about her new company, and almost staged a sit-in in her luxurious bathroom. Read on to see why!
You are an absolute global princess. Bali is currently home but tell us about all the lovely places you have lived?
I was born in the UK but moved to Denmark when I was 3 years old. I lived in Melbourne for a while but headed back to Europe to finish school before being accepted into Hospitality School in Switzerland. I then lived in Neuchatel for 3 years, which I absolutely loved.
When I was 23 I called Marrakech in Morocco home for 6 months and had an amazing time learning French and taking cooking classes. My cooking skills far surpass my French skills! I then spent 6 months living in Kuala Lumpur… where I truly fine-honed my shopping skills… working for The Marriott. Now I call Bali mine and this little island truly feels like home.
Apart from wrangling a very busy one-year-old, Ashton, tell us what else you’re up to at the moment.
I’m launching a new company called Design Dope Bali in August, so it’s been go-go-go for the last couple of months. It is a creative & social media bureau, a one-stop shop for everything fashion, lifestyle, & PR. Most recently we have added a media campaign production company, Design Dope Productions, to the list.
Ok! We’ve sat next to you on the spin bike so we have a fair idea of what you do in the morning, but tell us about your typical day.
Ash and I wake up early; we have a chit chat, breakfast, and a swim before I head off to a 3V class. I then head into the office to meet partner in crime and Design Dope PR & Marketing Director Christina Iskandar. I leave the office between 5-6pm, scoot home to fix dinner for Ashton and I, then it’s story time and bed for the little man. I try not to fall asleep 30 seconds after sitting down in front of the TV. If not, I head out and meet the girls for a wine or two or a late dinner.
You’ve just renovated your beautiful new home. How did that come about?
I bought this house 2 years ago and decided to renovate when I was 4 months pregnant. I guess I took nesting to the next level as all I really wanted was a home. I wanted a place that made me feel safe and relaxed, and somewhere I could finally unpack years of boxes of stuff. Ashton’s dad, James, played a huge part in getting the exact look I wanted. He also surprised me with my dream walk-in-closet when I arrived back from Sydney with Ashton. I love that wardrobe. It is my ultimate luxurious and OTT dream closet.
This is part of our job. Can we look in your wardrobe, please? Any new purchases we should be paying special attention to?
A black Celine Nano bag. It was on my lust list for a very long time and it’s an investment piece that goes with absolutely everything! It was an early 30th birthday present and I absolutely love it!
Who are your favourite designers at the moment?
I have so many favourite designers, but I am especially loving Miss Milne – I just bought an amazing black jumpsuit from her. Another favourite is Natasha Gan; I love her cuts and the graphic prints – they make me want to party and dance. I am also in love with a new label called Bare that have understated luxury pieces that are so easy to mix, match, and put your own twist on!
Love your black and white bathroom. Can you let us in on a few of your beauty secrets?
Beauty secrets are meant to stay secret, no? A hot bath, candles, and anything Chanel!
What’s your biggest indulgence?
Spoiling my son rotten. I want to give him the world although I do try to restrain myself and keep it simple. My biggest me indulgence is going to the salon for me time. I also have a very weak spot for vintage jewellery.
Can you tell us where in Bali you love to eat and drink?
So many places, so little time! Brunch at Petitenget, margaritas at Motel Mexicola. Mama San for lunch or dinner with the girls. The Legian is an all-time favourite and so is La Lucciola!
You never leave home without your… ?
Dummies, sunnies, and my Galaxy S4.
If you could talk to the younger you, what advice would you give?
Don’t wear your heart on your sleeve, don’t sweat the small stuff, and have no regrets!
