Hawker grub in Singapore is, arguably, some of the best street food you’ll find in the world. Hainanese chicken rice, chilli crab, char kway teow; being spoilt for choice is a dilemma we often find ourselves in. Though you can’t beat the authenticity of your local hawker, we sometimes want to indulge our tums with local grub in a fancy setting, and that’s where oh-so-swish Kopi Tiam at Swissotel The Stamford comes in. Serving up top-notch, elevated versions of local faves, it’s the perfect spot for dinner with friends and fam, visitors, and even client meetings.

Famed for its signature dishes of chilli crab, laksa, and fish-head curry, the existing menu is already a showcase of Singapore’s most delish dishes. So we were pretty pumped to discover that, from 7 May to 6 June, even more plates are being added to what is already a foodie extravaganza. In celebration of all things seafood, expect a veritable feast – fresh from the sea – that will tantalise your tastebuds.
If you needed one reason to (re)visit Kopi Tiam, the deep-fried marble goby fish (or Soon Hock) is it. Expect a super crispy exterior, soft juicy flesh within, and a drizzling of superior sauce – don’t judge us for drooling! The black grouper with orange sauce sounds equally delish, and bags a spot on our must-order list. We also love the sound of the Chinese herbal prawns; marinated and infused with Chinese wine and herbs, this simple dish sounds like the perfect pick me up.
Shellfish aficionados, there’s not one, but three dishes to get your chops ’round. First up is the spicy chilli mussels; expect Australian blue mussels tossed in a fiery chilli and onion sauce – sounds like a riotous combo to us. Continuing the spice-fest is venus clams with Thai basil; also loaded with chilli and garlic, it guarantees to pack a flavourful punch. Can’t take the heat? Opt for the fragrant brown clams with ginger and Chinese wine instead, or (if you’re greedy, like us) you’ll have no qualms about ordering all three!
Seafood Galore! Available from 7 May to 6 June 2016.
