Granted, there’s tonnes to eat here in Singapore despite being an itsy bitsy dot on the map. We’re sure you can relate to the conundrum that plagues you every time you think about what you’re gonna eat today, so we started this new weekly round-up. From new dining promotions to cheap food deals, and revamped menus to the buzz on new restaurants, this is what’s cooking in Singapore this week.
House at Dempsey has a new menu
As if we needed more reasons to head back to the charmingly secluded Dempsey neighbourhood! House at Dempsey has just unveiled a new selection of drool-worthy bites; highlights include baked scallops on shell, and a bone marrow and steak burger with bacon jam. Vegetarians won’t miss out either, with appetising options like portobello schnitzel bun, baked pumpkin and goat’s cheese rigatoni, and even BBQ local jackfruit sliders! Weekend nosh: settled.

Bak Chang season is upon us
In case you’ve been wondering what these triangularly-wrapped snacks are, they’re traditional Chinese glutinous rice dumplings prevalent during the Dragon Boat Festival season. Until the first half of June, these restaurants are boldly putting their spin on this classic recipe, using unorthodox ingredients such as wagyu beef, foie gras, black truffle, Berkshire pork, chilli crab and more. Read here to find out more!
Savour a taste of Penang without crossing the Causeway
Some might argue that food up North is better than all that Singaporean hawker fare has to offer – it’s a tricky debate, this one! If you wanna save yourself a journey and judge for yourself, head to Malaysian restaurant, Penang Culture, that’s ringing in its fifth anniversary with new, irresistible dishes. Premium crab meat and salted egg fried kway teow? Salmon assam laksa? Lobster and scallop noodles? Take the taste test!
