One of our top things to do on a Sunday morning in Singapore is to stroll around the achingly hip Tiong Bahru<\/a>, sipping on coffee<\/a>, shopping<\/a> for trinkets and generally pretending that we\u2019re cool enough to live there.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So the\u00a0news that some of our favourite little businesses on and around Eng Hoon Street were reportedly being sent notices to vacate by the Urban Redevelopment Authority was a little worrying.<\/p>\n

One of the businesses to be affected by the URA\u2019s decision is said to be gorgeous independent fashion boutique Nana and Bird<\/strong> (we\u2019ve called them a few times to get the skinny), while others apparently include Bloesem<\/strong>, Hui Aesthetics<\/strong> and a series of start-ups who are making the most of the cheap rent.<\/p>\n

The ground floor units are part of the iconic \u201840s and \u201850s residential blocks, and the decision is said to be a result of complaints by those who live in the desirable neighbourhood.<\/p>\n
