Let\u2019s face it: only a few of us are schooled (extensively) in a subject that we\u2019re completely passionate about. Moreover, our taste, preferences, and interests evolve with time. But that\u2019s not to say it\u2019s too late to pick up a new skill that you wished you had, or to re-train for that dream career you’ve always wanted.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve harboured thoughts of becoming an stylist, colourist, decorator,\u00a0designer \u2013 or simply want to stretch your creative potential and\u00a0embark on your own decorating project \u2013 good news: Sydney\u2019s International School of Colour & Design (ISCD) is running a pop-up campus at The Goodman Arts Centre. The weeklong event will include a series of workshops, short courses, plus information sessions for those keen on pursuing a more in-depth education in colour and design. Here\u2019s what to expect:<\/p>\n

\"ISCD<\/a><\/p>\n

iSTYLE Colour Short Course<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This in-depth three-day course focuses on colour and design principles, giving you the tools you need to develop colour schemes for your living space. Discover your preferences, the emotional impact, symbolism, decorating styles, and cultural aspect of colours, plus explore creative ways to use fabric and textures. By the final session, you will understand your personal style and be confident in putting together effective colour schemes for your home. This course is hands-on, with practical exercises and a stunning decorating journal to display your design development.

Colour 101 Workshop<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Enter the fascinating world of colours at this four-hour workshop, where you\u2019ll learn the elements and principle of design, how to mix and recreate hues based on the colour wheel, decorating styles and trends, and discover your personal style. At the end of it, you\u2019ll create\u00a0your own moodboard for your dream home.

Interior Styling Workshop<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Spruce up your interiors like a pro after this essential five-hour workshop that focuses on living spaces and interior styling solutions. Pick up tips and tricks on furniture and room layouts, effective\u00a0arrangement of your treasured possessions, and various d\u00e9cor styles from the experts. Create a moodboard based on your favourite look, and have a hands-on tutorial on styling and placement so that your home looks just like the gorgeous images seen in interior magazines.

The Colour 101 and Interior Styling Workshops will be followed by a free information session (6 October, 2014 at 2:30pm; 7 October 2014 at 3:30pm), which includes a presentation about ISCD, course options, and the potential opportunities for a career in design.<\/p>\n
