Healthy living is the name of the game; Paran\u2019s offerings are thus made with lower sugar, higher protein, and dietary fibre. Some of them even come with added probiotics and collagen.<\/p>\n<p>Paran\u2019s Singapore debut spans four categories: bread loaves, sandwiches, salads, and cakes. Photography: Sufyan Saad<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>First to hit my table was the Paran signature bread platter ($12.50), featuring rustic multiseed bread, multigrain rye bread, and oat softness bread. They\u2019re accompanied by confit garlic yoghurt, roasted cherry tomatoes, and extra virgin olive oil with balsamic vinegar. It\u2019s a pretty substantial serving, given the price.<\/p>\n<p>Out of the three breads ($6.90 each), I prefer the oat. It\u2019s light and easy on the palate, while its subtle sweetness pairs well with the yoghurt. The rustic multiseed bread is chewier and goes hand in hand with the extra virgin olive oil. The silky fish and creamy ricotta spread are a match made in heaven. Purple onions add a hint of spiciness, while the multigrain rye lends texture overall. Let\u2019s start with my next favourite: the strawberry salad yoghurt ($16.50), an excellent choice if you\u2019re looking for a light breakfast. There\u2019s a variety of flavours here, though tanginess dominates, thanks to the lemon vinaigrette and strawberry balsamic dressing. The fresh strawberries are sweet and complement both the dressing and cream cheese yoghurt.<\/p>\n<p>Any savoury options? Well, the chipotle prawn toast ($23) is a solid selection. The prawns are plump and deliciously spiced, while the scrambled eggs are soft and creamy. I also sampled the chipotle truffle egg citrus prawn salad ($16.50) \u2013 a commendable dish, but I thought it had a tad too much truffle, which coated the avocado slices. Photography: Sufyan Saad<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dessert-wise, I was spoiled for choice. My favourite is the strawberry Greek yoghurt cake \u2013 refreshing, bright, and not too sweet. I could\u2019ve wiped the entire cup clean! The slightly tangy mango coco gives off tropical vibes, which is very fitting for Singapore. Those who don\u2019t mind richer flavours can order the blueberry dark choco cake. Don\u2019t worry, it\u2019s not too cloying. The two jive seamlessly into one another, like two complementary shades on the colour wheel spinning around the breakfast table. Would Paran have worked better as a standalone concept? Possibly. But as a menu extension, it does slip quite naturally into Paris Baguette\u2019s existing line-up.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Promotion Board-esque intention didn\u2019t quite win me over, though.
