href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/moutarde-restaurant-rws-review-singapore\/\">Moutarde Restaurant<\/a>, I found out that Sundae Royale was something chef Paul Pairet had always wanted to do but could never find the space for. The ice cream concept started as a pop-up in Shanghai and has now found a home in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>The cafe has a retro diner feel, with booth seating and shiny vinyl chairs. I\u2019m also a huge fan of the island in the middle with bar seating that makes for some adorable couple pictures if you get the chance to sit around it. There\u2019s even outdoor seating if you feel like enjoying some sunshine.<\/p>\n<p>If the diner\u2019s interior isn\u2019t enough to tempt you, the massive fryer at the door will! Who can resist the sight of churros freshly piped and fried, served with homemade ice cream? But you won\u2019t find basics like strawberry, vanilla, or cookies and cream. We\u2019re talking caramel butter soy, lemon curd, and pistachio \u2013 something different and a little elevated from your usual ice cream experience.<\/p>\n<p>Options like milk, chocolate, or peanut butter ice cream are good if you have kids who are opinionated about what they want. But for the adventurous eaters, I\u2019d definitely go for the caramel butter soy. The silky caramel and salty soy flavours strike a balance in flavours that make you want to dive back for a second bite. As for the lemon curd, it hits you right in the nose with its acidity. It\u2019s refreshing, but you\u2019ll definitely be puckering because chef Paul isn\u2019t afraid of embracing lemon\u2019s sour flavour. I don\u2019t recommend it if you\u2019re looking for something on the sweeter side.<\/p>\n<p>When I asked chef Paul about his favourite flavour, he said all of them. \u201cBecause I love everything I make,\u201d he explains confidently. So if you\u2019re looking for recommendations, I\u2019d say take the gamble and try anything (and everything) on the menu.<\/p>\n<p>For some added pizzazz, look to the simple sundae, sundae liegeois or sundae crunch options. The peanut butter and chocolate sundae is the best of both worlds, thanks to the peanut butter ice cream and chocolate sauce. You\u2019ll pay a pretty penny for a slice of bread, but it\u2019s soft, buttery, and uber sweet \u2013 everything you need for perfect French toast. Top it off with a mini serving of ice cream, and you\u2019ll be utterly satisfied.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll also never turn down the churros ($6). While dusted in a bit too much cinnamon sugar for my liking, they were fried to perfection with an addictive crispy exterior. You\u2019ve got the option to have it with a mini ice cream scoop or some hot chocolate. Either way, no complaints.<\/p>\n<p>Other sweets include cheesecake ($12), a selection of viennoiserie (from $8), and the Polux waffle ($12), one of chef Paul&#8217;s highly sought-after desserts from his Shanghai cafe, Polux. It&#8217;s beloved for its crisp sugar glaze and soft exterior. I didn&#8217;t get a chance to try it, but you bet I&#8217;ll be back to order it for my next visit.<\/p>\n<p>If dessert is your love language, your heart will burst with Sundae Royale\u2019s selection of sweets. It\u2019s charming, delicious, and will soothe your sweet tooth.
