A charming hidden sanctuary in Tanjong Pagar<\/h2>\n

Elegant, cosy, yet unpretentious are the words that came to mind when I stepped inside the lobby of Amara Singapore. While I\u2019ve strolled past this hotel countless times when visiting the neighbouring 100 AM mall, I\u2019ve never had the chance to visit any of its dining spots \u2013 and I\u2019m glad I finally did.<\/p>\n

The Lobby Bar, as its name suggests, spans the hotel\u2019s spacious lobby. Bathed in natural lighting and decked out with ample plush sofa seats and pops of fresh greenery, it is a cushy space that invites you to slow down and stay for a while. Perfectly suited for lazy afternoon lounging, if you ask me.<\/p>\n

With the comfortably spaced seating, you\u2019ll enjoy a cosy space away from surrounding noise and conversations. I reckon this versatile setting is perfect for uninterrupted catch-ups with friends and family, relaxed dates, or even intimate celebrations on special occasions.<\/p>\n

Three gorgeous tiers of sweets and savouries<\/h2>\n

I\u2019d be lying if I said I don\u2019t scrutinise the food menu before choosing a high tea spot. Amara Singapore\u2019s high tea menu was promising from the get-go, featuring a mix of nine sweet and savoury bites.<\/p>\n

I prefer ending my meal on a sweet note, so I started with the savouries. The mini croissant duck rillettes with confit shallot onions, arugula and berry compote was a standout, thanks to its unique sweet-savoury combination and buttery pastry. I also enjoyed the smoked salmon blinis with caviar and creme fraiche for its richness and creaminess, as well as the spinach quiche, which was a simple yet well-executed classic.<\/p>\n

All the sweets looked irresistible. Light and airy, the pavlova was topped with creamy lemon curd and tangy red berries to balance out the sweetness. I may be biased as a scone lover, but the scones were one of my highlights. Crisp outside and crumbly inside, they were delish with the clotted cream and strawberry jam.<\/p>\n

Tip: if you or your dining companions have dietary restrictions, let the team know at least a week in advance and they might be able to work their magic!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s better than a high tea with artisanal bites? Making it a boozy affair, of course! Those opting for the $88++ set for two can enjoy a flute of first-class bubbly. Yes, that\u2019s the famed Louis Roederer champagne served on Singapore Airlines\u2019 First Class cabins.<\/p>\n

Delicate and crisp with a slight acidity, the champagne was a refreshing palate cleanser in between bites and the perfect companion to my indulgent afternoon tea. And here\u2019s a fun fact for bubbly lovers: Amara Singapore’s Lobby Lounge is home to Asia’s largest collection of Louis Roederer champagne.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re having the $68++ set for two, choose between Bleasdale Blanc De Blancs sparkling wine and sparkling tea for a zero-proof option. All sets also come with a choice of TWG tea or handcrafted coffee \u2013 a much-needed caffeine boost to round off the indulgent session.<\/p>\n

A leisurely afternoon nibbling on artisanal pastries and desserts while sipping first-class bubbly? This is definitely one of my new favourite ways to spend the weekend. Psst: I highly recommend living it up with the Louis Roederer champagne option. After all, it\u2019s a value-for-money way to try bubbly from one of France\u2019s best champagne houses.<\/p>\n
