Back then, cinephiles didn\u2019t have many options for niche, alternative films.<\/p>\n<p>That changed when The Projector opened. A cosy, neon-lit indie cinema in Golden Mile Tower, it screened daring titles and became a playground for film lovers to gather, geek out, and discover new favourites.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Peregrino (aka <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/mick.pilgrim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Mick Pilgrim<\/a> on social media), a film producer currently based in Singapore, likens The Projector to film school. \u201cIt\u2019s where we got to discover many titles and filmmakers that we may not have known about if we just depended on what\u2019s being shown in mainstream cinemas or what\u2019s trending on streaming platforms,\u201d he tells me.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve lost count of the screenings, festivals, and wild little film experiments that took place at The Projector.
