I checked in for a few nights to see if this four-star hotel would deliver on comfort, style, and convenience. The lobby\u2019s linear layout leads you past a cosy seating area with local memorabilia, honeycomb light fixtures (felt right at home), and striking artwork, including a Maui totem honouring M\u0101ori culture. Waking up to the Sky Tower framed in my floor-to-ceiling windows was one of those \u201cwow, I\u2019m in Auckland\u201d moments. The space was bright, modern, and functional, with a comfy Sleepyhead Premium bed, a Chromecast-enabled TV (hello, Netflix binge), and a work desk if you need to catch up on emails.<\/p>\n<p>While there\u2019s no bottled water in the room, each floor has a filtered water station that\u2019s great for the planet and my hydration goals. There\u2019s also a humble 24-hour fitness centre. My only tiny gripes? The water pressure in the shower was a little lower than I\u2019d like, and it took a hot second to figure out the air-conditioning and heater controls. Also, there\u2019s no pool. But since I visited in winter, I didn\u2019t miss it. It focuses on fresh produce sourced from nearby farms, dishes made with organic ingredients, and flavours that taste like Auckland on a plate. During dinner, we even had a cooking session with Food and Beverage Manager Aniket Das, where we prepared Kokoda (Fijian ceviche). This Sheraton signature celebrates local craft beers, and at Four Points Auckland, you can enjoy them at the outdoor bar with the Sky Tower practically winking at you in the background.<\/p>\n<p>On my first day, I joined a special beer tasting hosted by Luke Nicholas, founder of Epic Brewing and multi-award-winning head brewer. Epic Brewing is a New Zealand icon known for pushing flavour boundaries and creating beers with real personality. My standout sip? The Epic \u2018Portamarillo\u2019 Porter \u2013 rebrewed 11 years after its original Dogfish Head collab. It\u2019s smoky and rich with ripe tamarillo undertones.<\/p>\n<p>I also met Logan Richmond from Sawmill Brewery, a Matakana-based independent B Corp brewery. Open to the public, the restaurant transformed into a lively beer hall, with booths of local brewers pouring their best creations, and the vibe of a cool friend\u2019s party (if that friend also happened to have an impeccable beer list).<\/p>\n<p>All you had to do was buy tokens, sample to your heart\u2019s content, and take your favourites home. There were even games and laughs.
