The Singapore Sports Hub<\/a> has been buzzing with excitement this August \u2013 and the highlight? Majulah Fiesta 2024, which took place from 9 to 11 August. Packed with vibrant performances and activities for everyone, it was a massive celebration all in the spirit of patriotism. Missed this fiesta? 5 key highlights of Majulah Fiesta 2024<\/h2>\n

1. Cheers to another year for Singapore!<\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s turn back the clock to 9 August! Before the yearly parade in the evening, OCBC Square was abuzz with activity all morning and afternoon. From 9am to 3pm, people tried their hands at sports like table tennis, archery and mini golf at the Sport Try-outs booths, as well as fringe activities such as colouring and temporary tattoos. There were also captivating performances, including powerful wushu showcases, that drew many eyeballs.<\/p>\n

As the evening rolled by, crowds donning red and white made themselves comfortable at OCBC Square and Stadium Roar as they eagerly waited for the live parade screening. Those at Stadium Roar received an extra treat during the Fly Our Flag Segment, where they caught a glimpse of the state flag soaring past. And of course, the parade highlight goes to the iconic NDP fireworks, alongside the dazzling display over the Kallang Basin. The perfect finale, we say!<\/p>\n

2. Retail haven with unique local gems<\/h3>\n

We\u2019re not kidding when we say the Visitors Centre at Singapore Sports Hub was a shopaholic\u2019s haven. The inaugural AL!VE Artisans Market showcased 21 booths offering handcrafted and artisanal gems from local brands and artists. From 9 to 11 August, crowds poured in daily between 11am and 7pm to explore the wide selection of batik clothing, handmade trinkets, quirky accessories, stickers, prints, keychains and other unique finds. It\u2019s no wonder most people left with lighter wallets but fuller hearts!<\/p>\n

3. Groovy singalongs with local music stars<\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s be honest: NDP theme songs like Home and Where I Belong will always have a special place in our hearts, and we\u2019ll never miss a chance to belt them out. What better place to sing our hearts out than the first-ever Majulah Music Hub that was held on 10 August?<\/p>\n

This series of performances featured homegrown talents such as MICappella, Ben Hum, Kelvin Chen Wei Lian, Tay Kewei, The Island Voices, as well as Benjamin Kheng who composed and performed this year\u2019s NDP theme song. Yes, those who didn\u2019t manage to snag tickets to the parade had the chance to catch his performance of Not Alone! From 5pm to 8pm, they rocked the stage at OCBC Square with a mix of patriotic and original tracks that had everyone swaying and singing along. We\u2019re already looking forward to the next nationwide jamming session!<\/p>\n

4. A kaleidoscope of feathers, colours and sounds<\/h3>\n

From parrots to parakeets and budgies, OCBC Square was transformed into a bird lover\u2019s paradise on 11 August. A whopping 147 pet birds gathered at the Majulah Fiesta Pets Play Day (Feathers Edition), setting a new record for the largest gathering of pet birds in Singapore. The record for the most number of pet birds released at the same time was also broken, with 70 birds taking flight simultaneously. This vibrant kaleidoscope of colours and sounds was a dream come true for animal lovers who got to interact, feed and snap photos with these feathered friends.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, attendees were dazzled by two captivating parrots aerial displays at the Water Sports Centre. A flock of parrots took to the sky, transforming it into a stunning tapestry of colours as they soared past. It was definitely a visual spectacle for the books!<\/p>\n

5. Fitness party for the young and young at heart<\/h3>\n

Remember the Great Singapore Workout? This national aerobic routine, which dates back to 1993, probably brings a wave of nostalgia for many. On 11 August, Singaporeans took a walk down memory lane at the Majulah Fiesta Fitness Party, with an energetic workout that\u2019s reminiscent of the iconic routine. Dressed in red and white, people of all ages joined in with passionate vigour. Participants also had the chance to bust out martial arts moves in a Muay Thai workout led by Neue Fit, and get groovy with a dynamic dance session headed by SupaFresh DanceFit.<\/p>\n

Singapore Sports Hub: A versatile venue for all<\/h3>\n

From spectacular fireworks displays to a birds extravaganza, Majulah Fiesta 2024 was an unforgettable celebration for our Little Red Dot\u2019s 59th birthday. Home to unique world-class facilities, Singapore Sports Hub<\/a> boasts an unbeatable venue for such spectacular events. And as a versatile venue built for the community to gather together, the Hub has so much more to offer from entertainment to sports and lifestyle experiences.<\/p>\n

On the community front, we\u2019ve got past events like Harmony Fest! 2024, alongside celebrations for Hari Raya, Deepavali and Chinese New Year. The Hub has also hosted prestigious sporting events such as the HSBC SVNS Singapore and FIFA World Cup Qualifier between Singapore and South Korea. It has even welcomed global sensations for record-breaking performances. Heavenly King of Cantopop, Jacky Cheung, held 11 shows at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in 2023; while American superstar Taylor Swift held six shows at the National Stadium this year \u2013 her only Asian tour stop besides Japan.<\/p>\n

Plus, there\u2019s lots more on the horizon. Three epic history-making events are set for the coming months: Pope Francis\u2019 Papal Mass; music maestro A.R. Rahman\u2019s Singapore concert after a decade (and the first Indian concert at the National Stadium!); and the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2024. Oh, and world-class tennis action is also on our radar, with the new Kallang Tennis Hub slated to host the Women\u2019s Tennis Association (WTA) 250 tournament from 2025 to 2027.<\/p>\n
