It\u2019s no surprise that visitors flock to the exciting destination all year round. But in true Gangnam style, live it up in the trendy district by making the vibrant neighbourhood your home away from home. Voco Seoul Gangnam<\/a> marks the Voco brand\u2019s debut in South Korea, launched by IHG Hotels & Resorts in 2022. It sits prettily in the heart of Sinsadong surrounded by trendy boutiques and charming cafes, with the popular Garosu-gil shopping area just across the road.<\/p>\n

The hotel made my stay in Seoul perfectly comfortable, and it\u2019s a great base to start your sightseeing adventures. Here\u2019s what to expect\u2026<\/p>\n

Voco Seoul Gangnam review: A chic and cosy stay<\/h2>\n

Just a few steps up the hill from Sinsa station, Voco Seoul Gangnam is a welcoming sight. Step into the four-star hotel and you\u2019ll be greeted by a reception lounge decked out in warm hues, plush furnishings and contemporary decor. The friendly staff are on hand to check you in and offer all the information you need for your stay.<\/p>\n

Home to 151 rooms, including suites with their own mini pool and kitchen, the hotel is a serene retreat away from the bustling streets outside. With accommodation options ranging from snug stays to sophisticated luxury, there\u2019s a choice pick for all types of couples, families, and business frequent flyers here.<\/p>\n

My stay in the premium room offered lively city views, a lovely Hinoki bath for that calming onsen experience, a relaxing rain shower, and an indulgent king-sized bed. The decor was cheery and contemporary, making it oh-so-easy to unwind in leisurely style after a long day packed with frenzied shopping. Just sink into the wooden bath to wash all your worries away and rub your aching feet while soaking up the tranquil vibes.<\/p>\n

Oh, and everything from the minibar is complimentary. It\u2019s a small selection, but feel free to go wild with the drinks, which are restocked once a day.<\/p>\n

Satisfy those food cravings<\/h3>\n

Don\u2019t feel like leaving the hotel? All-day restaurant Amarillo offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. The morning spread is a mix of international cuisines featuring waffles, pastries, charcuterie and cheese, salad varieties, the usual buffet of bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs, coffee, and tea, and a couple of Korean dishes. It\u2019s pretty standard stuff, but having a made-to-order egg station is divine. Get your dose of protein with poached eggs, eggs benedict, or omelettes stuffed with cheese, ham, onions and mushrooms. I definitely devoured my plate.<\/p>\n

If you stick around later in the day, you can order sandwiches, snacks, grilled meats, and Korean delicacies like abalone rice porridge and beef bulgogi from the menu. But I\u2019d recommend heading to the outdoor terrace in the evenings for chill vibes.<\/p>\n

With the twinkle of fairy lights and the crackle of the fireplace, it\u2019s a sweet spot to lounge and watch the city quieten down for the night. Of course, those who prefer to venture out for an authentic taste of Seoul will find plenty of restaurants, cafes and local eateries nearby.<\/p>\n

Cook, clean and take a load off<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019ve ever been on a long vacation with a sparsely packed suitcase, you\u2019ll know the feeling of relief when you finally spot a self-service laundromat. It\u2019s pure joy, I tell ya. Well, thank the detergent gods because there\u2019s a 24-hour one right here in the hotel. Wearing fresh, crisp clothes won\u2019t just be a dream with this convenience.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a communal kitchen on every floor equipped with all the gadgets a home chef needs, so you can have your Korean ramen at midnight without any fuss. And if walking on the streets of Seoul isn\u2019t enough to hit your fitness goals, get your workouts done at the 24-hour gym (soz, sunbathers, there\u2019s no pool on these premises).<\/p>\n

Any green travellers here? If you value an eco-friendly hotel, you\u2019ll appreciate Voco\u2019s efforts to conserve the environment. We\u2019re talking about wooden room keys, disposable cups and straws made with sugar cane and corn starch, and reducing its use of plastic raw materials. Tip: since single-use products are banned in South Korea, remember to bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and razor.<\/p>\n

Can\u2019t wait to dive into the soul of Seoul? It\u2019s easy to do so from the hotel. Just cross the road to stroll down Garosu-gil\u2019s shopping streets filled with popular brands and Michelin-recognised restaurants. Or head a little further to Apgujeong Rodeo Street for luxury shopping, designer fashion, hip cafes, pubs, and more. To enjoy a stroll along the Han River, make your way to Jamwon Hangang Park for quiet time with nature. Other attractions in the vicinity include Coex Aquarium and the National Museum of Korea.<\/p>\n
