ICYMI: Coldplay will play six shows in Singapore come January 2024! The band\u2019s Music of the Spheres World Tour, their eighth concert<\/a> tour, features songs you know and love, pyrotechnics, and confetti. Another thing we love? Their sustainability<\/a> initiatives for this tour: reducing carbon emissions and partnering with organisations to plant a tree for every ticket sold.<\/p>\n

Naturally, everyone\u2019s excited, seeing how tickets have sold out quickly. Since the band will be on our shores for a week, we\u2019ve come up with a list of activities they should get up to while they\u2019re here.<\/p>\n

7 things Coldplay should do in Singapore<\/h2>\n

1. Look up at a sky full of stars<\/h3>\n

According to the band, this tour takes on a galactic theme. That means the moon, stars, and possibly other planets too. One place where they can check out our night sky is Woodlands Galaxy Community Club<\/a>, which houses an observatory. The band can look at the stars via the telescope on the rooftop \u2013 maybe it\u2019ll inspire them to write songs for the next album! But the observatory is only open on Friday nights, which clashes with the band\u2019s fourth concert. Bummer. Maybe they can pop by after they\u2019re done?<\/p>\n

2. Hang around ticking clocks<\/h3>\n

Taking inspiration from one of the band\u2019s biggest hits, the quintet and their entourage can park themselves at Empress Lawn and marvel at Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall<\/a>\u2019s majestic clock tower. It\u2019s Singapore Art Week<\/a> when they\u2019re here (it\u2019s happening from 19 to 28 January 2024), so the facade will have colourful projections. Fingers crossed the clock tower climb will take place when they\u2019re in Singapore \u2013 we\u2019d love to know their thoughts on the activity.<\/p>\n

3. Listen to the speed of sound<\/h3>\n

Coldplay is no stranger to live performances and crowds, so what better way for the band to check out our music scene than to sit in on a gig? While there\u2019s no lack of live shows<\/a> on our sunny island, we propose the band drop by Cool Cats<\/a> at NCO Club. (Because they\u2019re cool cats, get it?) Plus, they deserve a break too. We can just imagine them sitting at the bar, nursing their drinks, and bopping their heads to the music. If they\u2019re not too tired, they can also get on stage and do an impromptu show.<\/p>\n

4. Be hypnotised by local musicians<\/h3>\n

Speaking of music, we\u2019re just dreaming here but it\u2019d be great if the band can organise a meet and greet with our musicians<\/a>. Maybe they can host an intimate session and give a rousing speech to the participants. If there\u2019s time, the group can listen to everyone\u2019s music. Or hold a songwriting camp. Sharing credits with Coldplay? Everyone can dream!<\/p>\n

Now, \u201cintimate\u201d and \u201cGrammy Award-winning group\u201d don\u2019t belong in a sentence. Still, we know one place where they can avoid the crowd: The Coastal Settlement<\/a> at Changi. It\u2019s a little out of the way, but hey, if a Blackpink member can enjoy a seafood dinner there in peace, we reckon Coldplay can hang with our musicians in a cosy setting too.<\/p>\n

5. Sing a hymn for the weekend<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019re a massive Coldplay fan, you\u2019d know their music video for this hit single was filmed in India. The closest we can offer is Little India<\/a>, which we highly recommend the band visit while in Singapore. Perhaps they can record a music video while they\u2019re in the neighbourhood? The Tan Teng Niah house makes a very colourful, vibrant backdrop!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s too bad Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s on tour in the US; otherwise, she can be in the shots too. Imagine two powerhouses in one frame in Singapore. The last time a major group filmed their music video here was A1 in 2001; before that was The Corrs way back in 1998. Feel old yet?<\/p>\n

When they\u2019re done, we suggest the quintet make their way to Mustafa Centre<\/a>. They can get snacks to bring back to their hotel rooms, souvenirs for their families and friends, and perhaps even shoes. (We imagine the amount of walking might wear down their footwear.)<\/p>\n

6. Go on a ghostly adventure<\/h3>\n

Since the band named their sixth studio album Ghost Stories, we bet they\u2019re not afraid of the supernatural. How about putting that theory to the test? There are a few creepy ghost tours<\/a> here, so the group can choose the most bone-chilling one and explore Singapore\u2019s haunted places<\/a> in the dead of the night. Here\u2019s hoping they don\u2019t encounter anything while they\u2019re out there, though that\u2019d make an excellent anecdote for them to share once they\u2019re done with the tour.<\/p>\n

7. It was all yellow<\/h3>\n

Coldplay loves filming at the beach<\/a> \u2013 at last count, the band has three music videos set at the seashore. While we have plenty of those here, the one we recommend is hidden<\/a> in Sentosa<\/a>. Tanjong Rimau is located at the tip of the island and accessible via the edge of Shangri-La\u2019s Rasa Sentosa Resort. Upon reaching the beach, they can spot marine wildlife and explore the caves. The members can also enjoy unobstructed views of the sunset\u2026 or sunrise<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bonus: A head full of… Honeycombers<\/h3>\n

What\u2019s a visit to Singapore without meeting with our crew? One thing on our wishlist: to meet the band face-to-face. Come through, Coldplay! We’ll give you a tour of the office, have lunch at one of our favourite eateries, and hang out. We\u2019re manifesting this…<\/p>\n

Here’s hoping Coldplay will fulfil this dream itinerary when they\u2019re in Singapore in 2024!<\/p>\n
