What to know before you fly<\/h3>\n

Don\u2019t hold a Singapore passport? You\u2019ll need to apply for a visitor\u2019s visa to enter Armenia. Make sure you get that checked out before you book your plane tickets. It\u2019s not mandatory to wear a mask or have proof of Covid-19 vaccinations on hand to enter Armenia. But we highly recommend bringing these along with you anyway, as the rules and regulations can change at any time.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also worth noting that while the risk for petty crime and terrorism is low, you should remain vigilant at all times while travelling in Armenia.<\/p>\n

1. Yerevan<\/h3>\n

The capital city of Armenia holds an endless amount of charm. We hear the use of rose-coloured volcanic material in the city\u2019s buildings has also earned it another name \u2013 the Pink City. We love how it sits against the most picturesque backdrop of snow-capped mountains. Perfect for snapping a pic or two for your travel feed. Take a stroll around busy town squares, visit museums, and fuel up on local cuisine. There are also tons of aesthetic cafes to stop by for your daily cup of joe. Think names like Lumen Coffee<\/a> and Sweet Coast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2. Zorats Church<\/h3>\n

This relic of medieval Armenia is a sight for sore eyes. Zorats Church sits on a hill facing the Yeghegis River and has been standing since the 14th century. It\u2019s said to be a place where soldiers received blessings before heading into battle. 3. Mount Ararat<\/h3>\n

Ever heard the story of Noah\u2019s Ark? Well, Mount Ararat is believed to be the final resting spot of the massive ship from the Bible stories. This volcano actually sits on Turkish land, but it’s revered as a holy symbol to Armenians. We don\u2019t advise you to scale it, but you can catch a breathtaking glimpse of this dormant volcano from the Khor Virap monastery. It sits just 50 kilometres from the city of Yerevan.<\/p>\n

4. Lake Sevan<\/h3>\n

There\u2019s a good reason Lake Sevan is on our list of the most beautiful places to visit in Armenia. This lake is the largest in the country \u2013 covering up to 5% of it. Expect to find stunning landscapes, gorgeous monasteries and lakeside villages (that you can stop by for food and drink) when you arrive. Trust us, it\u2019s worth the one-hour bus ride from Yerevan.<\/p>\n

5. Geghard Monastery<\/h3>\n

This impressive Unesco World Heritage Site is based at the entrance to Azat Valley. History buffs will know that it was founded by Gregory the Illuminator \u2013 a religious leader who led Armenia to Christianity in the year 301. 6. Zorats Karer<\/h3>\n

Also referred to as the Armenian Stonehenge by tourists, Zorats Karer features 200 large stone monoliths (80 of which bear mysteriously well-polished holes). Rumour has it this megalithic site was built as a place for stargazing in the 6th century. We\u2019ve gotta say, it reminds us a little of the Netflix series, Outlander.

7. Areni-1 Cave<\/h3>\n

Areni-1 Cave holds a ton of interesting discoveries.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Fun fact: Areni-1 Cave is the location of the world\u2019s oldest winery. Archaeologists have unearthed tools like a wine press, fermentation vessels, withered grape vines, and even drinking cups in this space. If that\u2019s not enough to impress you, the oldest leather shoe was also found in this cave dating back to 3,500 BCE. Drop by for a blast from the past.

8. Symphony of Stones<\/h3>\n

This remarkable natural monument is a must-visit if you find yourself near the Azat River. You\u2019ll find hanging symmetrical stones extending to the top of the rocks \u2013 making this landmark appear almost like a man-made organ (the instrument, not the body part). It\u2019s called the Symphony of Stones because you can hear the river flowing through the gorge and filling the space with the sound of water.
