While most of us are excited to get back into the groove of things, there\u2019s probably nobody more thrilled for the return of travel than Kadambari Bhatte. We chat with this passionate travel writer and content creator, as she shares the best ways to make your overseas adventures meaningful in 2022.<\/p>\n

From corporate lawyer to jet-setting queen<\/h2>\n

You might know Kadambari as the jet-setting queen from Instagram<\/a>, with her colourful feed full of travel inspo pics that take you from country to country. But she didn\u2019t start out in the career of her dreams. In fact, before she decided to follow her heart, Kadambari worked as a corporate lawyer at a legal practice \u2013 a far cry from her current job.<\/p>\n

\u201cTravel has always been an integral part of my life. From the age of six months, I accompanied my family in their adventures, exploring the world little by little,\u201d she says, reminiscing how it was love at first flight for her. \u201cWe would plan impromptu road trips, and everyone from our big family would join in. As I grew up, I realised the only thing I wanted to do was explore new places and meet new people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kadambari shares it’s the lessons she learnt from her travels that gave her the courage to make the career switch<\/a>. \u201cBeing around the world made me realise the only constant is change, and that\u2019s when I decided to leave my job and go into travel writing,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

She was spotted as a travel writer by Tripoto, a platform for travellers around the globe, and now documents experiences from her travels far and wide. She\u2019s even had the opportunity to write for organisations like the Singapore Tourism Board. Just sneak a peek at her socials, and you\u2019ll find her traipsing through dreamy destinations like the Maldives and the Great Ocean Road in Australia. Now, that\u2019s the good life.<\/p>\n

Tips to travel meaningfully in 2022<\/h2>\n

Before you plan your holiday programme and prepare to step back onto a plane, check out Kadambari\u2019s top tips to make the most out of your travels.<\/p>\n

1. Seize any opportunity to travel<\/h3>\n

Many of us would love to get out of the country, but you may feel there are too many considerations. Is it worth travelling now? What if our friends or family don\u2019t have the time to come along? But Kadambari shares that now is the time to carpe diem. \u201cTravel solo if you have to, just take the plunge! We\u2019ve waited so long for travel to resume, and Covid-19 has kept us apart from our loved ones and new experiences for far too long,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

2. Be open to new experiences<\/h3>\n

\u201cExplore as much as you can, meet new people and try new things,\u201d she shares. It\u2019s important that we\u2019re curious and open to getting out of our comfort zone. That means stepping out of the hotel room and leaving behind familiar creature comforts, to fully immerse yourself in the wonders of your country-of-choice (this might be tough for those who love whiling the day away under crisp hotel bed sheets).<\/p>\n

3. Explore our gorgeous neighbouring countries<\/h3>\n

For those who might be too nervous to travel too far from home in this new climate, Kadambari suggests exploring our beautiful neighbouring countries<\/a> instead. \u201cPerhaps start with Bali<\/a>, Thailand or Sri Lanka \u2013 this makes it easier to pack your bags and head home if you need to,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

4. Go off-the-beaten-path<\/h3>\n

And finally, embark on the road less travelled. It\u2019ll be a much more exciting experience, and much safer! \u201cThere\u2019s always a certain risk we have to take when travelling, and now Covid-19 is just something else we have to consider as well. Choose activities that are far from crowds, and take care of your immune system by eating well,\u201d she says. You\u2019ll also walk away with fascinating stories in comparison to those who follow the usual cookie-cutter itinerary.<\/p>\n
