Before the pandemic<\/a> happened, we thought how delightful it\u2019d be if only we had more time to spend with our loved ones. The current global situation has spawned what\u2019s colloquially known as \u201cThe Great Resignation\u201d. It\u2019s not at all surprising, considering many of us were feeling stuck and fatigued in dead-end jobs we didn’t love.<\/p>\n

During this period, we re-prioritised what truly matters most to us. We also used this opportunity to explore our own backyard instead of always hopping on a plane to escape for the weekend<\/a>. We got the chance to save money and spend less in general on stuff such as public transportation thanks to WFH. So, as much as this whole extended pandemic experience has been infuriating, stressful, tiresome and challenging, there are actually a lot of silver linings.<\/p>\n

Want a fresh start and an optimistic beginning to the new year? Here are some leisure activities in Singapore to turn your negative outlook into a positive, transformative and fun-filled experience.<\/p>\n

Fun leisure activities to try in Singapore<\/h2>\n

1. Pick up a unique hobby<\/h3>\n

Learn a new life skill<\/a> \u2018cos nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you\u2019re not sure what to do, how about something novel you\u2019ve always wanted to have a go at but never found the time or inclination? Or perhaps even something that frightens you a little?<\/p>\n

Our suggestion: try your hand at craft workshops<\/a> like making pretty pottery. Become proficient in a new foreign language. Practice and play a musical instrument. Dust off old paintbrushes and canvases to create your own original masterpiece (who knows, it could be worth a fortune in the future!). It might take you by surprise what you can achieve if you take that first step and be willing to get your feet wet.<\/p>\n

Focusing on health and fitness is one of the best investments you\u2019ll ever make. It\u2019s an act of self-love! There\u2019s a prominent cycling<\/a> trend at the moment \u2013 just take a look at all the crowded bicycle shops<\/a>. Cycling is a great form of cardio exercise that allows you to take your mind off things (it\u2019s also kind to the environment). If sweaty activities aren\u2019t your thing, head to any beach<\/a> in Singapore and take an energising dip in the sea. Let nature\u2019s neutralising ions and refreshing sea breezes rejuvenate and revitalise your worn-out soul, we say.<\/p>\n

Next on the list: declutter and spring clean your living space and working environment for good feng shui. That helps you make room for new and better things. Consider upcycling<\/a> and repurposing old knick-knacks to breathe a fresh lease of life into them. Or make perfumed soap and aromatic candles <\/a>scented with essential oils. While you\u2019re at it, try creating beauty products out of ingredients you can find in your own home<\/a>!
