“Oh no, not again”, you think as you see Covid-19 cases rise and fall with no end in sight to the pandemic. Feeling frustrated, worried or stressed? Welcome to the club. It’s totally okay to have these negative emotions and reactions \u2013 we’re naturally anxious<\/a> about things we can’t control, after all. But with the latest Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) restrictions<\/a> putting a damper on our lives, we thought we’d spread some positivity in the world by talking about the sunnier side of (semi)lockdown.<\/p>\n

So from all of us at Team Honeycombers, here’s our list of little things we appreciate and enjoy about the stay-home experience.<\/p>\n

Why we love lockdown life:<\/h3>\n

1. Having a weekend schedule<\/a> that\u2019s totally clear. Not meeting people all day is an introvert\u2019s dream. Unlimited \u201cme time\u201d!<\/p>\n

2. I, for one, love lockdown. My family has been “forced” to come together and this is good on so many levels. It’s teaching us to be more patient and appreciate each other. It’s also highlighting our weak points as a family and as individuals. Lockdown is an opportunity for grace to be shown where you won’t normally be in a position to offer it.<\/p>\n

3. WFH is the best. No peak hour commute (work ends at 6.30pm, home life starts at 6.31pm). No $20 lunches. My daily outfit? Business on top, comfy loungewear<\/a> (okay, PJs) on the bottom.<\/p>\n

4. More online shopping<\/a>… and receiving the package yourself. Best feeling ever!<\/p>\n

5. The only mask(s)<\/a> I\u2019m wearing are sheet, clay and peeling ones. Oh, and eye masks too! Since those are the only things people see when I finally leave the house with my mask on, these peepers need some nourishing…<\/p>\n

6. Having lesser activities outside has made me do things I\u2019ve been wanting to accomplish at home (but didn\u2019t really have the time to). Like reading this book<\/a> I bought six months ago (oops, no shame), exploring new music<\/a> and going down the rabbit hole on YouTube…<\/p>\n

7. I love not having to go out in the hot weather! Love living that sweat-free life.<\/p>\n

8. Online family quiz nights every Sunday: Articulate, Kahoots… you name it, we’re playing it.<\/p>\n

9. No school lunches to make and no need to chauffeur kids to and from school daily!<\/p>\n

10. So much more time to squeeze in workouts<\/a> and take naps or mini day breaks to recharge.<\/p>\n

11. Cooking my own meals \u2013 because who doesn\u2019t love homecooked food<\/a>? It’s all about trying new recipes and saving $$.<\/p>\n

12. Going out for walks<\/a> after dinner to escape from screen time, get fresh air and destress by talking about the day.<\/p>\n

13. Sleeping in a little since commuting is out of the way. That extra hour counts!<\/p>\n

14. It’s amazing to see the kids grow up day by day and spend more time with them. I love getting random hugs during the day.<\/p>\n

15. It’s all about extra time spent with my family, especially since we get to do things we haven’t done together in a long time. The furbabies love it too!<\/p>\n

16. Staying close to home helps me appreciate everything in my neighbourhood<\/a>: the hawker stalls, the mom and pop convenience stores and the small spaces of greenery. Oh, and actually taking the time to stop and have proper conversations with neighbours\u2026<\/p>\n

17. Fancy meal flexing is back!<\/p>\n

18. There’s no obligation to stay out late \u2018cause restaurants and bars are closed anyway. Plus, catching up with my close inner circle at home in a cosy setting is a nice change.<\/p>\n

19. I met someone new! Oh, the wonders of online dating<\/a>. Who needs bars or blind dates when you have easy breezy dating apps?<\/p>\n

20. My family and I actually fall sick less often since we\u2019re home most of the time.<\/p>\n

21. There’s time for a proper breakfast \u2013 totally unheard of pre-Covid.<\/p>\n

22. I’ve reached out to friends a lot more. Everyone’s really supportive of each other, checking in regularly to make sure everything’s good.<\/p>\n

23. Skipping makeup, putting my hair up and working in comfy attire. Love it.<\/p>\n

24. The occasional pops of maskne aside<\/a>, I have better skin since I said goodbye to makeup and I don’t get as much sun exposure as before.<\/p>\n

25. Having extra hours to discover and rediscover passions I never had the time to pursue before.<\/p>\n

26. It’s a little easier this time ’round. We kinda know what to expect since we\u2019ve been through it last year \u2013 it’s not as bad as treading into the unknown.<\/p>\n

27. Grateful for the space and the lack of crowds outside.<\/p>\n

28. Figuring out how many surfaces you can balance your laptop on for the best Wi-Fi connection. It’s literally like playing The Floor is Lava \u2013 so much fun!<\/p>\n

29. Finding new activities to do at home<\/a> (especially with a little one).<\/p>\n

30. Saving money<\/a> FTW.<\/p>\n
