Look alive, moviegoers: Shaw Theatres<\/a> has recently unveiled its eighth cineplex at Jem. This marks the cinema operator’s return to the West. The new cineplex features 10 halls (including an Imax hall, a Dreamers hall, and two premiere halls), and new F&B concept, Centro Gelato & Dessert Bar. Between this and Dear You still drawing in the crowds to the movies, who says cinema is dead in Singapore?<\/p>\n

On the flipside, Golden Village<\/a> will be closing down its Plaza Singapura outlet this August. Six cinema halls will host their final screenings on 2 August, while the remaining halls will continue operating until the final day on 16 August 2026. The theatre chain is commemorating the closure with a few promotions, including complimentary snacks with the purchase of two movie tickets and inviting moviegoers to share their favourite memories of GV Plaza Singapura via a social media contest.<\/p>\n

2. Memory lives on at Changi Airport<\/h3>\n

Singapore’s century-old institution, Wing Seong Fatty’s Restaurant<\/a>, may have shuttered recently, but its legacy lives on at Qantas<\/a>‘ lounges in Changi Airport. The restaurant’s two signature dishes, crispy spring rolls and nuclear chicken, will be served in the first and business lounges respectively in honour of a place that has become the port of call for Qantas pilots. The Australian national carrier also held a private farewell dinner with Fatty’s before the restaurant closed.<\/p>\n

3. A signature Khmer flavour, reimagined<\/h3>\n

Forget pineapple on pizza \u2013 how does Khmer flavours on pizza sound? Chooby Pizza<\/a> and Smiling Gecko Cambodia<\/a> have come together to present limited-edition pizza. Throughout the month of July, diners can order the fish amok pizza, inspired by Cambodia’s national dish. The pie features a rich base of traditional Cambodian spice paste loosed with coconut sauce, and topped with hake fish, wild leaves, and marigold flowers. Ooh, yummy!<\/p>\n

4. Joo Chiat welcomes a new friend to the fold<\/h3>\n

Homegrown brand In Good Company<\/a> has opened the doors to its newest home in the neighbourhood! The new space brings fashion, hospitality, community, and collaboration under one roof. Enjoy Japanese tea and wagashi courtesy of Miura, a new venture by the team behind Paaru. Then, browse through a curated selection of lifestyle objects and brands, all specially selected for the Joo Chiat<\/a> space. 5. Who’s ready to meet Korean meat?<\/h3>\n

We’re seeing the rise of Hanwoof beef and Handon pork in menus across Singapore. And if you’re curious to try them, now’s your chance. From now to 31 August 2026, six participant restaurants \u2013 part of the Meet the K-Meat Festival<\/a> \u2013 presents a citywide showcase of Korea’s premium meats, interpreting them across KBBQs, steakhouse, hotpot, and modern dining.<\/p>\n

On top of that, the first 100 tables to order Hanwoo and\/or Handon dishes at each venue can receive bottles of newly introduced Korean traditional alcohol, which has never been sold in Singapore before. To mark the occasion, Singapore’s rooftop destination<\/a> has collaborated with Sol de Janeiro on tipples inspired by the brand’s Cheirosa Perfume Mist collection.<\/p>\n

Zouk returns after a multi-million-dollar renovation and presents a new concept: Rally Clubhouse<\/a>. It’s a combination of many things \u2013 cafe, bar, music venue, and community space \u2013 and designed as a modern clubhouse where people can gather, connect, and return to, again and again.<\/p>\n

Inspired by Ryan Coogler’s film, Sinners: Live<\/a> is an immersive musical performance set to take the stage in Singapore on 5 and 6 September 2026. If you’ve ever wanted to experience the movie in real life, this is your chance.<\/p>\n

The production unfolds across two concurrent yet completely independent shows that run simultaneously on the same night. Both shows run approximately 2.5 hours.
