Glow Recipe\u2019s latest addition to its watermelon range is touted as a highlighter serum (the first of its kind!). Said to be a skincare and makeup hybrid, this can be used as a primer, mixed in with foundation, used on the eyes, over makeup or layered under a powder highlight. Personally, the primer and foundation mixing route worked best for me, providing an all-over glow when worn without much powder. I\u2019d say to be cautious with using it for the \u2018wet\u2019 eye look if you have oily lids, and beware of possible clumping when paired with power highlights. As a skincare product, this holds its own on my vanity as a hydrating serum that layers well with most other skincare products. It also feels a tad thicker and more moisturising than the average serum \u2013 which this innovative new product isn\u2019t, of course. And did I mention that it comes in an iridescent bottle? *Heart eyes*

A popular new skincare product, ampoules are all the rage right now, and for good reason. These are basically supercharged serums which you use to perk your skin up within a short span of time, hence the nifty vials they come in. From the local brand, Timeless, I\u2019ve been enjoying the Hydra ampoule for hydration and the Splendore ampoule for a boost of radiance. The consistency of these ampoules are thicker than the average serum (probably because they have sclerotium gum listed in the ingredients), but they absorb into the skin in a jiffy. I appreciate how these ampoules sit really well beneath whatever moisturiser or oil I apply on top, too.

Pat it on generously (don\u2019t forget the neck!) and it absorbs right away. In fact, Pitera mimics skin, so that\u2019s why your skin locks in all the goodness faster than water. I find that my parched skin is revitalised, looking all glowy and hydrated. Who needs a highlighter when you\u2019re on your way to crystal clear skin, am I right? I love the formula of this foundation, which makes me all the more gutted about the shade range. With only three very similar shades, this is unfortunately reserved for the pale-skinned. I use the darkest shade with bronzer on top, following a good ol’ exfoliation sesh because the formula does tend to cling on to dry patches a little. If the brand can cater to more varied skin tones, I reckon this would be my fave given how convenient it is. I appreciate how it’s a two in one with a silky smooth setting powder, which I love using with other base products as well. Bonus points for the sponge that works incredibly well with the powder. Unlike many other applicators that come in products, this didn’t get chucked to the corner of my drawer, which is no mean feat.

Here\u2019s one for fans of multitasking products: this vitamin E mask is more than just a regular rinse-off mask, it can be used as an overnight mask or a moisturiser too. The combination of vitamin E, niacinamide and adenosine helps to plump up my skin and keep it looking radiant. Plus, it\u2019s great for the busy (or lazy), who can\u2019t be bothered with masks that need to be rinsed off after we\u2019ve already settled into bed. I typically use this as an overnight mask that I can comfortably fall asleep with, or as a light moisturiser in the day. I first tried this mask when I received a sample from another purchase, and I\u2019m on my second tub of this stuff now \u2013 it\u2019s a wonder why I haven\u2019t raved about it before.

Thanks to its high thread count and microfiber material, it almost feels like a silk cloth hugging my face. But what surprised me was the after-effect. It\u2019s probably the most moisturising sheet mask I\u2019ve ever used. Unlike others, the mask doesn\u2019t dry up on your face. In fact, when I removed it after a good 25 minutes, it felt as if I\u2019d applied a thin layer of moisturiser<\/a>. Major love!<\/p>\n

The mask contains a blend of five potent heroes including 20% lactobacillus ferment, a probiotic that stimulates collagen production, reduces inflammation and defends the skin against pollution. In terms of consistency, it\u2019s a blend of a gel and cream \u2013 keeping the properties of a heavy-duty moisturiser while being lightweight at the same time. I\u2019ve been using this multi-tasker on my face, hair and nails (if I remember) for a little over a month. Though I haven\u2019t noticed much difference in my acne scars yet, I\u2019m loving how the oil gives a dewy finish and adds life to my dull face. And I\u2019m sure my skin is loving the vitamin E and antioxidant-packed face oil. As for my hair? One pump is all it needs to fight the frizz<\/a> and bring on the shine.

It doesn\u2019t set in the long-lasting way that a typical liquid lippie does, though it deserves points for being vegan and aluminium-free. The colour sheers out by a few notches once it\u2019s spread on the lips, retaining a decent (but not opaque) colour payoff. I appreciate how hydrating and comfortable this feels on the lips \u2013 you can wear this all day (touch-ups needed) without any dryness. I\u2019d recommend picking a darker shade if you want more pigmentation!

I\u2019m a sucker for a darn good facial cleanser<\/a> so I\u2019m always up for trying something new. This geranium-scented gel cleanser by local brand Glowfully is so gentle on the skin (no tightness or stripping off moisture). But it\u2019s also strong enough to buff away impurities. I like the slight exfoliation of the charcoal beads until it disintegrates into a formula that unclogs pores.

Ooh, I was pumped for this launch! Like everyone else, the pretty millennial-tinted packaging drew me in. FYI: This K-beauty inspired clean and cruelty-free skincare line is powered by fruits and is free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalate. Already scoring major points in my books. First of all, I\u2019m obsessed with the gooey texture of this mask. You almost want to sink your face right into the jar. Next, the ingredients. Amino-rich watermelon extract and hyaluronic for intense hydration and to mitigate skin ageing? Check. Antioxidant-rich pumpkin extract and AHAs to repair skin during snooze time? Check.<\/p>\n

I almost want to give it full marks but I have an itsy-bitsy bone to pick. Even though the gel-like product sunk right in, I wasn\u2019t too thrilled about walking up to debris on my face and pillow cover. Do I continue using it as a sleeping mask or switch it to a wash-off mask instead? Choices, choices.

I\u2019ve had it up to here with my uninvited acne attendees and they don\u2019t seem to be going away \u2013 until I added this cleanser<\/a> to my skincare routine<\/a>. Heavy-duty ingredients such as glycolic, salicylic and lactic reduce the appearance of acne and unclog pores, while botanicals like aloe vera and watercress extract, plus natural enzymes from papaya and pineapple soothe the skin and eradicate dead skin cells. Some may not be accustomed to the strong scent but I have no qualms with it. The cleanser is also non-stripping \u2013 great for those with dry or sensitive skin. I wouldn\u2019t say that my acne has disappeared completely but at least I\u2019ve got it under control.

I love how this cooling one-piece gel mask covers the full eye contour area \u2013 that means no sneaky peeks at the phone during mask time<\/a>. The active Mediterranean bacillus ferment ingredient is known to tackle multiple concerns at once so don\u2019t be surprised to see smoother wrinkles and less puffiness or dark circles. The newly-formulated eye mask also contains hyaluronic acid and vitamin E, which we all know have powerful hydrating and anti-ageing muscles. Tip: Pop the mask in the fridge for the ultimate wake up call.

There\u2019s also citrus sinensis oil for an antioxidant boost and aromatherapy. Finally, the vitamin E-rich argan oil balances sebum production and moisturises the skin. I walked out of the shower with fewer bumps (goodbye, backne!) and glowing skin.

TL;DR: After a good 15 to 20 minutes, the sheet was almost dry \u2013 a testament to how well my skin soaked up the serum. The mask promises supple skin and I have to say, it delivers. As always, I slathered the excess serum on dry areas, my neck and decolletage.

I\u2019ve had my doubts about DE\u2019s other multi-tasking makeup remover<\/a> and cleanser (wasn\u2019t thrilled with the oily sheen that the Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser leaves behind). Nonetheless, the words \u2018micellar cleanser\u2019 and \u2018no rinsing required\u2019 drew me in for this. I soaked a cotton pad with the \u2018milki\u2019 formula, held it over made-up areas for a few seconds and removed everything with ease. But most importantly, there was no icky oiliness nor did it strip away moisture. Will definitely pop this into my gym or beach bag for a quick pick-me-up. I\u2019m loving this product so far but at $40 for just 200ml in a bottle, I\u2019d use it sparingly.

Concocted with ingredients like zinc and magnesium chloride, this lightweight cream is known to boost collagen and elastin production, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. I\u2019m not sure about the latter yet, but my face feels fresh and rejuvenated. It also combats environmental and sun damage, which is a great product to use now more than ever.

I\u2019ve been a fan of local skincare brand<\/a>, Re:Erth, so I was thrilled to try the new spot lightening serum when it launched. First things first, when using spot treatments, you gotta be patient and trust the process as it takes time to yield results. I\u2019ve been using the product for close to two months and I see a significant improvement on my dark spots and hyperpigmentation around the sides of my face.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s probably due to the blend of Monkey Jack heartwood, cherry blossom and Japanese spring turmeric extract that works hard to combat all sorts of spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone; as well as promotes collagen for plump, radiant skin. I also like that it absorbs well into my skin and can be used around the eyes. Of course, there are stubborn scars that won\u2019t budge but let\u2019s see how far this product will go.

Reviews are also a mixed bag \u2013 some are not thrilled with the smell but honestly, I quite like it. I suggest sampling the product before purchasing the full size \u2013 this is going to take forever to finish.

I was pleasantly surprised by the finish: It\u2019s not sticky or oily, and I feel comfortable wearing this without any powder at all! It\u2019s not completely transfer-resistant, but it\u2019s definitely more so than the usual cushion compact. Do note that this does seem to cling on to dry spots and flaky skin, so if you have those issues, this might not be for you. And fingers crossed that they release more shades \u2013 with only four on the Singapore site, it isn\u2019t the most comprehensive selection.

I’ve been reaching for the violet one (no.45 Brilliant Violet) when I need a little colour to brighten up my day. Expect a slightly deeper violet than it looks in the promotional picture (right), but a gorgeous shade nonetheless. It\u2019s a long-lasting pop of colour, which meets my expectations of a liquid lip product. This gets a thumbs up for wearing comfortably throughout the day even without a lip balm underneath! Yes, it\u2019s a mouthful but they do everything to combat damages caused by both blue and infra-red light, shield against pollution, and reduce premature ageing. Having used up the entire bottle, I think it\u2019s safe to say that it made my skin pretty happy. And if you want to incorporate acids into your skincare routine without that slightly tingly sensation, add this to your vanity, stat. Also adding bonus points for being vegan, cruelty-free and packaged in recyclable material!

I know that UV protection is essential even when indoors, but I generally dislike wearing sunscreen on its own as it gets greasier by the hour. What I found is that this IDS sunscreen applies easily and sets well with powder directly on top, without needing foundation \u2013 perfect for a stay-home routine. It has a vaguely clinical scent that reminds me of chlorine, so heads up if you’re not a fan (I personally don’t mind it). In terms of being a tinted product, I wish it was more colour correcting instead of just making my whole face look paler, which makes my complexion look quite washed out. If I’m heading out, I’d throw on some foundation to cover that up. For semi-lockdown days though, it does the job of defending my skin from those dreaded UV rays without feeling heavy.

Act + Acre\u2019s cold processed scalp treatment is a great weekly detox that gives you a breather. It definitely does the job in cleaning the gunk out but my scalp felt too dry and the dandruff remains. Giving this a few more tries before I make a final decision.

This does oxidise, so try swatching a shade lighter and you’ll probably end up with a good match. Hot tip: If your sunscreen (which you should be wearing everyday!) gives you a whitecast, then go for your usual shade and layer it on top. The oxidisation of the CC+ cream will counteract the whitecast, which will create an overall shade that matches your skin.

Lavender is my absolute favourite essential oil, so no surprises that I fell in love with this lavender-scented cream at first whiff. The formula is moisturising but not heavy, leaving a dewy but not oily-looking effect. Plus, it layers so beautifully under makeup, I think anyone who wears makeup should give this a go! Another mood booster: The incredibly aesthetically-pleasing nature of Doers of London\u2019s packaging. Safe to say, this face cream definitely adds joy to my daily grind.

As a chronic eyeliner user<\/a>, I\u2019m quite a snob when it comes to this essential in my makeup routine. It has to be long-lasting, waterproof, smudge-proof (\u2018cos nothing will help my oily lids) and highly pigmented. The eyeliner from Huda Beauty ticks all of the above but why wasn\u2019t I obsessed? I had no issues with the easy-glide pencil liner, though the liquid eyeliner was another story.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s really tricky to apply, especially if you\u2019re going for a winged eyeliner look. I always have to clean it up with another eyeliner \u2013 which defeats the purpose. And it\u2019s also so effing hard to remove. Even after using a combo of makeup removers<\/a>, I still have a faint stain over my lids. My lids were begging me to stop. Is it worth it? For the hefty price, I\u2019d say no.

\u201cWhy look for something else when I\u2019ve finally scored the perfect concealer?\u201d I asked myself as I swatched my shade at the Fenty Beauty counter. But as a beauty writer, I knew I had to embrace change. I might be late to the party (the instant retouch concealer was launched last January) but that will not stop me from dishing my honest thoughts. I kept delaying my purchase after hearing rumours that the formula might be too thick for daily makeup, but the creamy consistency proved me wrong. It has a medium to full coverage with a matte finish. Plus, you do not have to use your hands thanks to the doe foot applicator.<\/p>\n

My only beef is that, because of the matte finish, the concealer dries quickly so you have to be fast unless you want to spend more time blending and setting the product \u2013 and I can\u2019t afford that.

Each serum features specific superfoods for different skin concerns, but I\u2019d think the anti-pollution serum (featuring peach juice and Kudzu root) is a pretty universal one for all city folks. After a month of use, the pollution-blocking effects don\u2019t seem to prevent my pores from getting congested, but it does have a subtle anti-inflammatory element, with a slightly calming effect on my skin when it\u2019s irritated (think redness or hormonal breakouts).

It doesn\u2019t clump and allows me to apply multiple coats of mascara without drying too quickly. Who needs falsies? However, I\u2019m just not sure if it\u2019s waterproof so be sure to keep that in mind!

Test it out sparingly if you\u2019re using it under makeup as it doesn\u2019t layer too well: After I put on powder (I\u2019ve experimented with both translucent and loose ones) following my usual base, it tends to clump up. I’d say use it for those no-makeup days when you want to look au naturel, sans the panda eyes.
