Yes, really. In fact, some mums would rather their (well meaning) husband and kids keep their soggy cereal to themselves and instead just allow them a bit of peace and quiet!\u00a0 So, what do Mums really want? <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/2014\/05\/breakfast-in-bed-ideas-for-mom.php#more-18248\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Breakfast in bed<\/a> is okay, as long as Gordon Ramsay prepares it and delivers it silently at around 10.20am with his top off. Even better would be a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/2014\/04\/mothers-day-dining-singapore-2014.php#more-18227\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">champagne brunch<\/a> out somewhere very posh with other Mums. With women who agree that Mothers\u2019 Day exists to say, \u2018Thanks Mum for all your hard work, now have the day off!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>OK, let\u2019s be honest. There is no need for celebrity appearances and to spend heaps of cash on Mums to make us truly happy. Simple is best.<\/p>\n<p>Listen up husbands and kids. This is what we really, <i>really<\/i> want on Mothers&#8217; Day:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We want to sleep in.<\/li>\n<li>When we wake up, we\u2019d like a massive cuddle from the beautiful fruit of our loins. We don\u2019t really mind if they\u2019re wearing rainbow leggings with a tartan tunic, but it\u2019d be great if they were fed, dressed, clean and happy.<\/li>\n<li>A homemade card with a hilarious drawing and misspelt message.<\/li>\n<li>We want to be taken out to brunch. No breakfast in bed!<\/li>\n<li>We would like <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/2014\/05\/last-minute-mothers-day-gifts-2014.php#more-18672\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">thoughtful gifts<\/a> from spas. No kitchen appliances.<\/li>\n<li>We want to go the toilet alone, for as long as we like.<\/li>\n<li>We want to drink a cup of tea while it\u2019s still hot.<\/li>\n<li>We\u2019d like to scroll lazily through emails on our phone without someone asking, \u2018Can I play on your phone?\u2019<\/li>\n<li>We\u2019d like to sit on the sun lounge with a trashy mag and no lifeguard duty.<\/li>\n<li>We want to have a shower without sharing and without conversation.<\/li>\n<li>We want no shouting for a day. None from the kids and none from us.<\/li>\n<li>We want to end this perfect day with takeaway eaten straight out of the box.<\/li>\n<li>We want to be in bed with a good book and the father of our children (optional) by 10pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will thoroughly enjoy all of this in the knowledge that our own mum is also relishing <i>her<\/i> spa treatment, with a side of vindication &#8211; finally they get it!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not all mums love Mothers\u2019 Day!
