The administrative capital of Tibet, aka roof of the world (since it\u2019s 3,650 metres above sea level), welcomed this luxury hotel into its fold last month.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Located within walking distance to the famed World Heritage sites of Potala Palace and Norbulingka Palace, the 289-room five-star property provides a lavish base camp for those looking to explore this mythical-like paradise on earth. Lhasa is also home to some of the world\u2019s most culturally significant Buddhist sites like the Jokhang Temple and Sera Monastery.<\/p>\n<p>Given the altitude, you <i>should<\/i> acclimatize before heading out to see the sights. For instance, a 6.5 metre bell-like chandelier draped in flowing red fabric (reminiscent of a prayer wheel) is the dramatic centrepiece of the Lodgers Lounge. The rooms feature splashes of reds, deep blue, and vibrant green seen in traditional Tibetan dress. In-room services include sweet tea served in Tibetan pots and hand-woven yak fur pouches as turndown gifts \u2013 sweet!<\/p>\n<p>No adventure is complete without trying the local food.
