Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore<\/h3>\n

Fun fact: this property is the world\u2019s very first Shangri-La hotel! And in case you didn\u2019t know, the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore<\/a> has recently undergone a massive revamp at the Tower Wing. The result? A lush tropical wonderland in the midst of Orchard Road. Pay a visit to the atrium with a rock wall designed by Tokyo-based Ryoichi Niwata. Look out for the cool sculptures of children by Korean artist Yi Hwan Kwon, which play with perspective. Clever!

Inside, grandiose chandeliers, opulent water features, upholstery and bronze art sculptures against splashes of rich burgundy are ready to greet you at the lobby. No prizes for guessing why The Scarlet is the city\u2019s first luxury boutique hotel.

We love that The Warehouse Hotel takes after the original structure and industrial elements of the former warehouse (three warehouses, in fact!) that stood on this site. The lobby looks like a scene from The Great Gatsby \u2013 think a large open-plan space, pendant lights suspended from high ceilings and louvre windows. Rest your legs on one of the brown leather sofas, purchase lighters, flasks, ashtrays and knives at the Objects of Vice retail space or quench your thirst with cocktails reminiscent of the warehouse\u2019s three distinct eras of the past. Have a chat with the friendly staff behind a life-size gold rhino sculpture, take a quick tour of beautiful artworks by artists from around the globe or order a drink from a selection of bespoke gins and whiskeys at the executive club lounge (exclusively for club room guests).

The cosy reception area is filled with art pieces and sculptures (try to spot Rene Magritte’s iconic bowler hat if you can), along with a foliage wall and Hotel G\u2019s merchandise for you to take home.

A refuge from the predictable, the lobby at Hotel Indigo at Katong displays art murals, colourful tiles, Kamchengs (Chinese porcelain jars) as centrepieces, paper lanterns, upholstery and unique designs inspired by Peranakan culture and the heritage town of Joo Chiat<\/a>. It also has an upscale version of a traditional mama stall at the communal area (The Pavillion).
