It is, after all, lined with stellar eateries, watering holes<\/a> and even heritage buildings<\/a>, but if you veer a little to one of the side lanes, you\u2019ll discover that Stanley Street is yet another vibrant street that just keeps on feeding\u2026 lucky for us, CBD kids<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Does the sound of Mod-Japanese cuisine make you wide-eyed? You\u2019ll want to add this to your list. A newish kid on the block and a contender for our hot new menus<\/a>, Chi Kinjo is a modern sushi highball den that now does lunch. Chef Lamley Chua upsized and experimented with basic onigiri to serve a surprisingly filling lunch special. The sushi sandwiches come in four flavours \u2013 Asian prawn cocktail, phoenix roll, sake sunrise and maguro mayo \u2013 at $8 a pair and $12 for four with dipping sauces and salad. Big on bento? You\u2019ll love Chi Kinjo\u2019s box that comes with a chunky hamburg steak or ginger pork with XO sauce. And we will definitely be going back for the rice filled Chirashi box that\u2019s generously topped with marinated sashimi, bits of mango, avo and yuzu sauce. Lunch done right.

Burlamacco Ristorante<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019re around the corner and craving some Italian, hit up Burlamacco Ristorante, which is known for being one of the best Italian restaurants in town. We\u2019re into the pasta dishes and mains like pappardelle with pork leg ragout (marinated in red wine for seven days) to the most tender Angus beef short ribs with marsala wine sauce prepared by Chef Gabriele. Even Masterchef Singapore winner, Zander Ng<\/a> has worked with the chef for a private event. Oh, and you have to stay for dessert. Word has it that the pannacotta is bomb.

Who knew we had a restaurant backed with history, right in our area? The original restaurant with the same name in Barcelona carries a Michelin star and has been in the family since 1869 (and it\u2019s still there!). More than a 100 years later, you can find the same recipes being served on Stanley Street. Dig into authentic Catalan dishes like the Gaig\u2019s traditional cannelloni, croquetas de jamon iberico and squid ink and seafood fideua (paella but with noodles).

You may have tried Japanese omakase but French omakase is definitely something different. Started by Christophe Lerouy who also helmed the kitchens of Michelin-starred Alma By Juan Amador and Dstllry, Lerouy is making French omakase a thing in Singapore. Pick the number of courses you want and let everything surprise you, right from the amuse bouche to the petits fours. Every dish is almost an art form so take your sweet time here.

Pasta, sandwiches, fries and its signature flaming burger (yep, it\u2019s served in flames), you can your fix of solid (and better tasting!) pub grub here at The White Rocket while the sun is still up! And when it\u2019s sundown, crack open a cold one of course or enjoy a glass of wine while you wind down your hectic workday.

Another reason to love Stanley Street is how you can find both swish restaurants and local food joints. Save the French omakase for a special occasion and have the mee goreng, mutton chop and curry puffs for every other day. We\u2019re totally down for that.

You can\u2019t miss this one, especially if it\u2019s lunchtime. The queues are so long, they had to open TWO shops on the same street. The menu is simple \u2013 a selection of traditional Chinese soups including lotus root soup and black fungus mushroom soup, as well as simple rice dishes. Rainy day food? You know where to go (and queue).

A great joint for after work drinks, ShuKuu Izakaya is an excellent spot for sake newcomers to get into the spirit with the help of the bar\u2019s sake sommeliers. Started by passionate sake lovers themselves, you can also find excellent izakaya bites here for sharing or to wolf down yourself.
