Where else have you seen a durian-shaped building in Singapore (ahem, Esplanade), laws prohibiting durians in public transportation, and durian treats everywhere? But beyond the usual cream puffs and cakes, there are some pretty innovative (and peculiar) durian desserts in Singapore – savoury options included. Would you go there?

All the unique durian desserts to try in Singapore

1. We’re just joking, though you’ll see this in examples like bananas, jackfruit, seafood and more. Now it’s time to experiment with this ethos. Enter fried durian. Is it a success? Are people for or against this creation? It’s polarising, for sure. Go ahead and try it, then let us know what you think.
Majestic Restaurant, #04-01, Marina One The Heart, 5 Straits View, Singapore 018935

2. Durian prata

Everyone knows prata and its various permutations, both savoury and sweet. So it’s not a surprise when we found durian prata at The Roti Prata House. The only question is: what’s the taste like after the prata has been dipped in curry? We’re not sure if we want to find out. This creation definitely falls under the “strange” column on our list.
The Roti Prata House, 246 Upper Thomson Road, Singapore 574370

3. Durian fish soup

Alright, so this doesn’t exactly qualify as dessert. But it has durian in it, and it’s just downright strange (and savoury?) that it has to be included. This dish, available at a coffee shop in Tampines, comes with rice, vegetables, minced meat and, of course, durian flesh. According to the stall, durian fish soup provides the necessary nutrients to boost your immunity. Sure, we’ll take that.
Wang Yuan Fish Soup, 519A Tampines Central 8, Singapore 523519

5. Durian milkshake

If durian tea isn’t your cuppa, perhaps this one will do. This frothy concoction is made using Mao Shan Wang pulp and Meiji milk, resulting in a creamy milkshake that’ll fill you up after you finish it. Will this durian milkshake bring all the <del>boys</del> people to the yard? We’re not sure, but it’s worth trying. Otherwise, you can try the other offerings available. Delish’s famed donuts are stuffed with durian pengat, and we totes approve of this combination. Durian kaya

Fans of kaya, toast, and durian, here’s something that’ll positively delight you. The King of Fruits has been infused into this familiar favourite, resulting in a creamy creation that’s bursting with durian goodness. The fruit’s flavour doesn’t overpower the snack, so you can enjoy this time and again.
Sunny Hills, multiple locations including Raffles Hotel and Takashimaya Shopping Centre

9.
