Here\u2019s how <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/2014\/02\/coastes-singapore-sentosa.php\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jazz by the Beach<\/a> went down last Friday at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Coastes\" rel=\"nofollow\">Coastes<\/a>, and we\u2019re glad to report we had a blast (the air quality is better at Sentosa anyway)!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/03\/Jazz-22.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16117 lazyload\" alt=\"Jazz 2\" data-src=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/03\/Jazz-22.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 640px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 640\/480;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We kicked off the evening with some mojitos and Mai Tais (we have to commend the folks at Coastes for not skimping on the alcohol) and yummy munchies like calamari rings, chicken wings, and \u2013 because we were ravenous \u2013 thin crust margarita pizzas.<\/p>\n<p>Fed and watered, we kicked backed in our seats under the starry sky and waited for the show to start. Featuring a power-packed quartet including the maestro Stephan Francis on the keyboard and vocals, they were joined by Rob Collins (who used to perform at Bellini Room and Bellini Grande) and Mathilda D\u2019Silva (of Singapore Idol fame).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/03\/Jazz-31.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16118 lazyload\" alt=\"Jazz 3\" data-src=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/03\/Jazz-31.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 640px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 640\/480;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We expected Jazz Funk and Motown Soul, and the sexy sax solos and energetic drumming didn\u2019t disappoint us (and we have notoriously high expectations). But the shimmying intensified &#8211; at least for us &#8211; when Rob and Mathilda did a jazzy duet of Get Lucky; yes, that super catchy number by Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/03\/Jazz-41.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16119 lazyload\" alt=\"Jazz 4\" data-src=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/03\/Jazz-41.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 640px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 640\/480;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just as we were topping up our glasses of Heineken again (just couldn&#8217;t resist the promo of 2 jugs at $68!), fireworks interrupted us \u2013 you read that right, fireworks. Sentosa\u2019s Song of the Sea is located a little way down from Coastes, so you get a bonus side show of pretty fireworks not once, but twice, in one night. So make your way there earlier to get better seats in the house to catch Jazz by the Beach and the fireworks (without having to pay for the latter, ha).<\/p>\n<p>In our opinion, Jazz by the Beach (happening every Friday night in March from 8pm till late) is one of the best ways to say TGIF to that workaholic spirit that many of us pay excessive homage to.
