The new and improved exhibitions are a multi-sensory treat \u2013 think holographic versions of great seafarers like Sang Nila Utama. Learn the ropes of running a ship, and navigate the seas with the help of a mariner\u2019s compass and knots, nautical charts, and the stars.<\/p>\n

This one\u2019s our personal fave. Ports of Call is all about getting immersed in the sights and smells of major 14th century ports like Quanzhou, Oman, Calicut and Malacca \u2013 but it\u2019s not your typical showcase. Not only will you see what trading in the past was like, you also get to experience it all yourself: the many spices that changed hands, and the opulent perfumes redolent of an era long gone\u2026 <\/p>\n

What\u2019s a maritime exhibition without its ships? Feast your eyes on replicas of majestic vessels such as the Chinese junk, Javanese jong and Borobudur ship. If it\u2019s a true-blue sea epic you\u2019re looking for, don\u2019t miss out on the Typhoon Theatre, where you\u2019ll be fighting the treacherous waves. Spoiler alert: there\u2019s nothing quite like the wrath of the seas, so buckle up!<\/p>\n
