For those of us who love discovering the hidden charms of Singapore,<\/a>\u00a0ticking off the\u00a0list of where to eat good food in Singapore<\/a>\u00a0or going on a quick road trip to JB\u00a0for some bargain shopping<\/a>, getting around without a car can be challenging. We all\u00a0know the deal with the cost of owning a car in Singapore, which is why car-sharing services are becoming pretty appealing. We\u2019re constantly looking for a solution to travel sustainably and do good to the environment, so we’re definitely up for this:\u00a0BlueSG<\/a>, an electric car-sharing service will be launched in December and will the first of its sort in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n

80 cars, 30 stations, and 120 charging stations where cars can be picked up and dropped off will be operational by the end of the year in Singapore where options like bike-sharing<\/a>, ride-sharing and even scooter-sharing<\/a> are increasingly popular.<\/p>\n

Through a mobile app or via the website online, BlueSG users can book an electric car and will be charged for the time they rent the vehicle, as opposed to the distance travelled. Eventually, an option for a daily or annual membership will be available to users. Fun fact: there will be no parking charges in public carparks as BlueSG will be covering the cost of season parking. Try this for size \u2013 the four-seater Bluecar\u00a0is designed by Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina and will be slightly bigger than the rather snug Smart car.<\/p>\n

With much more awareness on climate change<\/a> and finding alternatives to the gas-guzzling way we get around, it is quite heartening to see electric cars \u2013 which was not too long ago considered an option that only the rich could afford \u2013 being adopted into car-sharing market in Singapore. Currently, only ride-sharing app GRAB provides options for electric cars and taxis for its users.<\/p>\n

BlueSG is a part of the French Bollore Group, which already established Paris as the largest car-sharing city with 4,000 Bluecars and 6,200 charging points around the capital. Come on, Singapore let\u2019s ace this in Asia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
