While we may be on the perpetual search for the best nasi lemak, chicken rice or laksa here, two best friends from Singapore teamed up to explore the cultural influence of Asian cuisine in America. <\/p>\n<p>The idea for the show stemmed from their curiosity of the origins of food like Singapore Noodles and fortune cookies that have a strong presence on the menus of Chinese restaurants in America. The result? Crack the Cookie Code &#8211; a TV show that follows Elizabeth Lazan and Jeane Reveendran around American cities as they go on a full-on food exploration. Fun fact: the two co-hosted and produced the show themselves as well. <\/p>\n<p>We caught up with the pair back home in Singapore as they raved about their travels and talked to us about their friendship that began when they were kids, as they took us for a walk around the scenic Amoy Street in Telok Ayer.
