Farrer Park isn\u2019t the most well-known of neighbourhoods in Singapore<\/a>. It\u2019s not quite like the trendy Tiong Bahru<\/a> or buzzing Robertson Quay<\/a>. But we love its amazing variety of hip cafes and great local eats all the same. Surrounded by the vibrance of Little India<\/a>, the heritage shophouses of Jalan Besar<\/a>, and the old and new contrast of Novena and Balestier<\/a>, it\u2019s a real gem of its own. You\u2019ll never run out of good food at Farrer Park, thanks to its plethora of restaurants and cafes.<\/p>\n

Pop into Syip to admire the Farrer Park cafe’s white minimalistic decor. Serving all-day brunch and coffee, its popular menu items include mentaiko scallop linguine and ikura kombu capellini. We also love treating ourselves to the hearty big breakfast with a side of tater tots on cheat day. Pair your order with unique drinks like matcha yuzu, strawberry lemonade or black sesame latte.

It blends Japanese and Western flavours for a menu that\u2019ll give the neighbourhood\u2019s veteran cafes a run for their money. The place is perfect for brunch, thanks to its abundance of natural light, complemented by dishes like chicken sando and lobster mayo croissant. If you’re feeling peckish, order sides like tempura dumplings or mentaiko fries to share. For dessert, don\u2019t miss out on the lime meringue tart to go with your coffee of choice.

With two locations situated just a street apart, you\u2019d be forgiven for doing a double take every time you walk past Old Hen. Both are pretty similar, though Old Hen Kitchen is the newer and bigger (but more hidden) outlet. These folks specialise in coffee, with black, white and cold brew varieties alongside Japanese teas, craft beers and kombucha on the drinks menu. As for the food, expect to see cafe brunch dishes like avo toast, French toast, toasted muesli bowl, and maple bacon mac and cheese on the line-up.<\/p>\n

Psst: those in-the-know will have dined at Old Hen Kitchen’s neighbour, Chooby Pizza<\/a>. Available for reservations every Monday at noon, this coveted spot for Napoletana-style pizzas opens only from Wednesdays to Fridays for dine-in.

Try the GTF for chicken ham, scrambled eggs, hashbrown and truffle mayo, the Pastramania for beef pastrami, scrambled eggs and house-made mustard, or the classic smoked salmon with garlic herb cream cheese.
