If you enjoy a light-hearted, slapstick comedy \u2013 with a fun Singaporean take \u2013 you will love the play, Boeing Boeing, by W!LD\u00a0RICE.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Since its Parisian premiere in December 1960, Boeing Boeing has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most performed French play throughout the world. The play was also adapted into a Hollywood movie, starring Tony Curtis and Jerry Lewis.<\/p>\n

The storyline is simple: it\u2019s about a bachelor, Bernard, and his crazy plan to have three beautiful fiances, all air stewardesses \u2013 Miss Singapore, Miss India and Miss China. With their busy work schedules, they fly in and out of town, and with Bernard\u2019s careful planning, each takes their turn to be Bernard\u2019s squeeze, without knowing of the others\u2019\u00a0existence\u2026 until their schedules change. Due to typhoons, volcanic ash and faster planes, Bernard\u2019s careful planning falls apart.<\/p>\n

We loved the performances, and the adaptation to Singapore life \u2013 especially with Bibeth Orteza\u00a0as Roza, Bernard\u2019s domestic helper who has to keep up with the girlfriends and the different cuisines they prefer.\u00a0She\u00a0repeatedly\u00a0cries \u201cIt\u2019s not eas-sy!\u201d with Bernard\u2019s\u00a0multiple\u00a0requests.<\/p>\n

And Judee Tan\u2019s performance as Jin Jin, Miss China, was side-splitting. I am not sure whether she was\u00a0intending on\u00a0being as funny as she was (her mainland Chinese accent \u2013 which sometimes sounded slightly Russian and German \u2013 was particularly\u00a0hilarious), but regardless, the audience was in an uproar with laughter with her overly dramatic take.<\/p>\n

Finally Shane Mardjuki\u2019s performance as Bernard\u2019s friend, Robert Tan, was a standout.\u00a0 You couldn\u2019t help falling for this character who swung between naughty lover-boy to confused and unhelpful friend.<\/p>\n

If you are after a night out of belly-laughing, Boeing Boeing is a sure bet.<\/p>\n
