Who said opera had to be in the theatre<\/a>? These tenors and sopranos will be taking their craft out of the opera house and into nature<\/a>. Gracing the stage in 2008, the Singapore Lyric Opera is back to serenade you with a mesmerising repertoire on 17 June at the ever-scenic Singapore Botanic Gardens<\/a>, in conjunction with the 10-year anniversary of Opera in the Park.<\/p>\n

Eliminating the clich\u00e9s of traditional opera performances and aiming to attract a wider audience, the Singapore Lyric Opera will be showcasing their set in the great outdoors \u2013 the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage to be exact. Get ready to fall in love with renditions of opera classics such as faves, Rossini\u2019s La Gazette, O lusinghiero amor<\/em>, Mozart\u2019s Le Nozze di Figaro, Voi che sapete<\/em>, and Puccini\u2019s Gianni Schicchi, O Mio Babbino Caro<\/em>. The brilliant line-up of programmes is carefully curated to pay homage to the Music of Our Youth, exemplifying those care-free, salad days.<\/p>\n

Led by Singaporean conductor and The Julliard School graduate, Joshua Tan, the Orchestra will also feature winners from the Open and Junior categories of the SLO-Asean Vocal Competition 2016, Izen Kong, Zhang Jie, Melissa Hecker and Lauren Yep. Plus, the SLO Chorus and Children Choir will be making a guest appearance at this annual event, so you\u2019ll even catch future opera starlets from this bunch of talented tots.<\/p>\n
