For Christmas, you can\u2019t go wrong with the traditional whole turkey. Huber’s uses frozen turkey that’s been brined to ensure you get one juicy bird. For fuss-free prep, consider having it defrosted, marinated (olive oil, salt, spices, sage, rosemary, and marjoram), and stuffed (choose from three house-made options: chestnut, sage, or chicken and mixed mushroom) (from $71 per piece) so that all you have to do when you get home is pre-heat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius and roast it.<\/p>\n

Not a fan of turkey or thinking about doing something a little different this year? Huber\u2019s recommends four alternative meats worth the calories and extra time at the gym (did you think you were gonna get away scot-free with all this culinary goodness?).<\/p>\n

Turkey is always a popular choice at Huber’s during Christmas time<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There\u2019s the super tasty ham hock that\u2019s salted and glazed with honey ($25 per kilogram). It feeds two to three people so it\u2019s perfect for small, intimate gatherings. However, if you need something a lot more substantial for bigger get-togethers, there are options like duck, goose, and even suckling pig.<\/p>\n

Huber\u2019s ducks ($20 per kilogram) weigh about two kilograms each, and you\u2019ll need a 45 centimetre oven to cook them. They\u2019re slightly more flavourful compared to turkey, works for about four to six people, and are not too fatty. On the other hand, if you want a fattier choice of poultry that\u2019s great for eight to 10 people, go for the goose ($29 per kilogram). The ones on sale at Huber\u2019s are about four kilograms heavy, and preparing them would require a 60 centimetre oven.<\/p>\n

Pork lovers wouldn\u2019t be able to resist a good roast and the crackling skin that comes with it. Huber\u2019s suckling pig (loin and belly, rolled, $39.50 per kilogram) is actually available all year ’round and takes slightly over an hour to cook in the oven, but believe us when we say it\u2019s worth the wait. It\u2019s crispy on the outside and oh-so-juicy on the inside! Each piece weighs slightly less than two kilograms, so if you are expecting a crowd, consider making one of these in addition to another main of your choice.<\/p>\n
