The turkey might be medium-well, but gratitude is underdone in our society. The idea of giving thanks on a specific day brings focus, sure; but considering everything I have to be thankful for \u2013 I might need a week, not just one day.<\/p>\n

Here goes.<\/p>\n

I could write to thank you – our readers, who have made my dream job come true.\u00a0 Or thank my team of clever writers and account managers who are just such a great bunch to work with (and joke with).\u00a0 I could thank my husband, who supported me when I was starting this new non-paying career and helped me on finances, admin, decision making and not to mention proofing every word written before we could afford any staff!<\/p>\n

But the person I really want to thank is my helper, Sylvia.<\/p>\n

\"photo\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Often overlooked, I feel so lucky to have this wonderful supportive, caring and generous woman living with us as if she were my sister, my mother and also a mum to my kids.\u00a0 The way she cradles my kids when they are hurt or sad as if they are her own is truly remarkable.\u00a0 The way she manages to be there when we need her, and disappear when we don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

For those of you who know Sylvia, you know she has a ready smile, a joke and a song to sing.\u00a0 It truly is amazing how someone that lives so far away from her family, can do her job with such happiness and cheer.\u00a0 And I know I could not have the happiness and fullness of life I enjoy, without her amazing support.<\/p>\n
