Following a sold-out, five-concert tour in India with Zubin Mehta, the Australian World Orchestra 2016 Singapore Tour finally makes its way to our shores. It\u2019s also one of the biggest concerts to hit the classical music scene here this year: over 90 of Australia\u2019s top musicians <\/span>\u2013<\/span> who play in famed ensembles such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic <\/span>\u2013<\/span> are coming together from all corners of the globe for this one night-only concert, led by veteran conductor and founder, Alexander Briger AO.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ravel\u2019s \u201cBol\u00e9ro\u201d and Tchaikovsky\u2019s \u201cSymphony No. 5\u201d might be clear winners of the evening, but it\u2019s not just any predictable classical music showcase <\/span>\u2013<\/span> there\u2019s a surprise in store for fans, too! Making its international premiere is \u201cThe Witching Hour\u201d, a new concerto by Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin with eight double basses taking the spotlight, making this a first in the history of orchestral tunes. Keep your ears peeled for this thrilling and theatrical number, specially written for the group\u2019s double bass section.<\/span><\/p>\n
