Phu Quoc is hotting up as a travel destination thanks to its sandy beaches and amazing food, and VinOasis Phu Quoc is the perfect place to relax after all the fun
There’s nothing like escaping the country and exploring a hidden paradise in another part of the world. We just spent three days in Phu Quoc, an island in Vietnam that’s just a sixty minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City, at VinOasis Phu Quoc, and to put it simply, we were spoiled with clear blue water beaches, vast green mountain landscapes, exotic animals, wild rides and amazing seafood. #takeusback
It’s all about culture on Phu Quoc island
We toured around the island with a guide who showed us the local fish sauce factory, pearl farms and pepper farms. Be sure to get yourself a car guide because the only way to get around the island is on motorbikes or cars, but fear not, as this also means little to no traffic.
One must-try experience in Phu Quoc is sampling all the exceptionally, fresh seafood. We sat at one of the small restaurants on Sao Beach, on the east of the island, and enjoyed the sun while indulging in stir-fried chilli crab, salted grilled prawns and well-seasoned squid, and drinking our Saigon beers and young coconuts – so good!
Discover Ham Ninh Village, a fishing village located on the island that has many floating seafood restaurants. Walk through the markets that sell both fresh and dried seafood, local spices, natural shells, faux pearl jewellery and much more. The village is a great location to explore and understand the island’s culture, and you’ll see many families running their small shops and catching the local produce from the waters.
The Phu Quoc Night Market is a destination not to be missed when visiting the island. There are plenty of iconic local island treats like ice cream rolls that are hand-battered, sticky coconut candy, Vietnamese crepes and grilled prawns that are made to order. Buy all your souvenirs here, from faux pearl jewellery, handmade goods, woven handbags, local spices and local beauty products. We definitely recommend sitting back at one of the many taverns at the night market and enjoying a nice ice cold Vietnamese beer to end your night.
VinOasis Phu Quoc: Our idea of the perfect holiday
Of course, after all the excitement of exploring the island, we needed somewhere to rest our heads. If you’re like us, nothing makes you happier than seeing a beautiful pool right outside your hotel room window and an endless crystal clear blue beach that seems to always be tempting you to dive in. The new rooms at the VinOasis Phu Quoc by Vinpearl, a secluded space inside VinPearl Resort, are enormous (even the standard rooms) and its design finds inspiration from the tranquil sea that surrounds the property. One of the things that we loved best about staying at VinOasis were the large bathtubs that could be found in each room, complete with lavender oil bath salts – of course, that we happily and repeatedly indulged in during our stay.
Spas, extreme thrill rides, water slides, and exotic animals on safari
It’s all about escaping with your friends, loved ones and family at VinOasis Phu Quoc. If you’re looking to relax with your partner, head over to the spa that offers a range of treatments from facials to couple massages. If you’re with your family on the other-hand, or you’re just an adrenaline junkie looking to blow off some much needed steam with friends, VinPearl Land is an amusement park located inside the resort (you heard that right, there’s an amusement park in the actual resort!) which has extreme roller coaster rides, and even a waterpark section that has epic action-packed water slides. For those who want to take it easy, there’s also an aquarium, which is a great spot to take the kids to see penguins, sharks and beautifully coloured fish, some of which are the size of baby cows!
Did we forget to mention that there’s also VinPearl Safari? Where you can see exotic animals from all around the world including lions, camels, lemurs, meerkats and giraffes. You can even dine alongside the giraffes at the restaurant located directly beside the enclosure. Make sure you check out the animal show at the theatre where you will be able to see birds and monkeys performing amazing tricks, and even a talented otter educating kids on the importance of recycling. Who said getaways couldn’t be educational as well?
Phu Quoc is a stunning destination, and quite possibly the perfect place for all ages. Whether you’re up for exploring the dynamic cultural spots across the island, or if you’d prefer to just chill inside the resort, VinOasis Phu Quoc is quite simply the best place to take it easy, or to get involved.
