Quick, get to know these hip brands before they get massive! CATALOG spotlights the best under-the-radar brands to know now
2015 was a great year for fashion discoveries. A fresh crop of talent seemingly came out of nowhere or were pretty much hiding in plain sight. Thankfully, we caught wind of some of these names that were buzzing last year.
That said, we at CATALOG are calling it now: We believe 2016 is their time to shine. Read on and meet your new favourite brands.
1. ARMOIRE OFFICIELLE
Headed by Creative Director Kjetil Aas, this Scandinavian brand is making a case for the smartly tailored wardrobe. Its offerings for both men and women are indeed timeless, but also refreshingly modern and casually elegant.
2. BRUTA
Hailing from London, Bruta was founded by Arthur Yates, who surprisingly has no formal fashion education. But what he lacks in technical training he makes up with an artistic inclination that is unexpected and uncompromising, beautifully translated into a unisex shirt range.
3. FEIT
If 2015 was the year of normcore, then FEIT could very well be the signature shoe of the fashion “movement”. Characterised by ultra-sleek, no-nonsense footwear made from quality leather, FEIT’s offerings for men and women are sure to be celebrated further in 2016.
4. LE FEUILLET
French, leather, minimal — what’s not to love about men’s accessory brand LE FEUILLET? Featuring items like portfolios, backpacks, card cases, wallets and more, each piece is stylish and functional, perfect for the modern gentleman who’s all for style and substance.
5. MARYAM NASSIR ZADEH
Beyond the fashionable shoe range that stylish women in the know clamor for, Maryam Nassir Zadeh (MNZ) has a lot to offer when it comes to apparel too. Inspired by personal stories, vintage references and unexpected colours, there is a comforting familiarity her clothes exude, capturing our hearts unwavering adoration.
6. SUNNEI
Low key yet stylish — that’s the driving force behind Italian menswear label Sunnei. Taking the fashion world quietly, this unassuming brand is loved for their outerwear and trousers, which are usually soft and unlined for ultimate comfort, yet exhibit boxy and oversized silhouettes for an interesting contrast.
7. TRES BIEN
What started as a cult e-commerce site established in Malmö, Sweden is now a full-fledged menswear label as well! Bearing all the elements of a Scandinavian brand (clean lines, muted colours, boxy proportions), Tres Bien is slowly becoming one of our fave under-the-radar brands.
