Go on a multi-sensorial ride as this ridiculously chic “curiosity shop” breaks new ground of vulva lovin’.
It all began with the world-famous Blackout, an activated charcoal vulva mask, that was launched in 2018. Fast forward three years, luxury intimate care brand TWO L(I)PS has expanded to a stellar line of 16 vulva care products that can also be used on the face and body. The brand has truly brought vulva care, a topic rarely discussed, to the forefront, by breaking taboos and empowering women to love their vulvas more.
Earning bragging rights as the first-ever physical store dedicated to vulva care in Singapore (and possibly the world), the opening of the flagship store is a major milestone for the intimate care brand. We’re also one mighty step closer to normalising vulva-centric conversations. Oh yes!
We got our first look at the space and let’s just say, we’re thrilled by the attention to detail, interactive elements and concept of the store.
The first in Singapore (and quite possibly the world) for vulva care
Located in the heart of Singapore’s famous shopping strip, the modern-day “curiosity shop” in Ion Orchard takes you on a multi-sensorial ride. This quaint store is simply unmissable. Awash with terracotta-hued mineral clay walls and a curvaceous, cavern-like space, the store immediately engulfed us into a space of calm. We were absolutely floored by the soothing terracotta colours (very trendy, might we add). We almost forgot that we were in busy Orchard Road.
Designed by Singaporean designer Olivia Lee, the retail space is a modern-day version of Europe’s “curiosity shops”, and is filled with quirky, unexpected and interactive installations in every corner, stimulating curiosity through experiences of scent, touch and sight.
Something else that caught our attention is the array of art pieces, displayed across the store.
Discover works of art by French artist Sylvia Goubern and Singaporean ceramist Mud Rock Ceramics, alongside TWO L(I)PS’ 16-product range (two of which are slated to launch early next year).
Using art to spark conversations about vulva care
Curiosity took over as we veered towards a pink binocular-like lens. Of course, we couldn’t help but peep into it to find cheeky artworks featuring the brand’s products. The voyeuristic element continued with the abstract ceramic artworks. They each had a peephole that transported us to our very own “vulva verse” of some sort. The display of artworks are no afterthought and there’s a reason why they have elements that play on intrigue and curiosity. Customers are encouraged to put all awkwardness aside and spark open conversations about vulva care through these artworks. It definitely got us talking to the lovely staff about the artists and their ideas behind their masterpieces.
It’s no surprise that the shop is sprinkled with art. After all, art has always been in the brand’s DNA; welcoming artists of various disciplines to tap into TWO L(I)PS’ spirit of creativity and innovation.
Our eyes then landed on the huge custom terrazzo sink top with a brass and copper tap, where customers can test all products in store. With a lovely display like this, you’ll want to try everything in the store.
Explore the mysteries of day and night at the Sun & Moon tester bar
An intriguing scent directed us to the Sun & Moon tester bar. It’s assembled like a throne – you shouldn’t expect any less for your little goddess anyway – in an intimate dome-shaped room. These soon-to-be-launched mood enhancers are inspired by cosmic symbology, lunar cycles and planetary orbits. That’s why you’ll notice moon phases, motivated by the concept of interlunation. The Sun & Moon mood enhancers each have a distinct alluring scent that makes it quite the olfactory experience. Lift up the bell jars to experience the scents – Sun is uplifting and bright, while Moon is musky and mysterious. We personally like them layered together! Oh, and the meteorite-like structures aren’t just for show – they actually double up as scent diffusers. We’re definitely counting down to the launch in 2022.
After exploring the interactive elements of the artworks, immersing ourselves in the cosmic Sun & Moon tester bar, testing products by the terrazzo sink top, and basking in the calming scents, smooth textures and earthy colours of the space, we totally understand what they mean by a multi-sensorial journey. We’ll call it – this isn’t your usual shopping experience. You’ll definitely see us here again!
