Party: Cinco De Mayo
Saturday, 4 May
Save the date: Long before it was christened Star Wars Day, 4 May historically has been Cinco De Mayo – a celebration of the Mexican army’s triumphant win over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican war in 1862. So what’s in it for us? A grand excuse of partying, dancing and drinking like the Mexicans. It’s a fiesta: Cuba Libre Cafe & Bar will be putting together a special menu of Espolõn margaritas, shots and Mexican tiraditos; Piedra Negra will be giving Haji Lane a Mexican makeover complete with free tequila shots, a lucky draw, Latin salsa beats, a photo booth and Mexican grub (duh!).
Come dressed in your wildest retro outfits ‘cos Lucha Loco’s got disco fever with a Mexican twist. Spin the loco wheel, smash the disco pinata, fuel up with tacos and tequilas and groove to the beats of DJ Tyler Made. Chimi’s is hosting a weekend-long fiesta – an adult-only Saturday with Afro and Latin electro beats by DJ Abdelux and Labaude, Mexican carnival games, tarot card readings and piñatas smashing. Got kids? Bring them here for family-friendly celebration on Sunday for live performance, Latin pop music, carnival games and more.
