All the best things to do in Marina Bay Sands: Your ultimate itinerary
11am: Marvel and interact with unique art
First up on the agenda: step into a magical new world that feels like you’ve landed in a faraway paradise. Over at ArtScience Museum, its permanent digital art gallery – Future World: Where Art Meets Science – offers a truly immersive experience. Launched in partnership with renowned international art collective, teamLab, it’s an enchanting amalgamation of art, science and technology.
Stroll through the exhibition and marvel at 17 unique, cutting-edge artworks, with imaginative fun at every turn. Your adventure begins at City in A Garden which draws inspiration from the city’s lush landscapes. Glide down the interactive and colourful slide at the Fruit Field, watch as seasonal blooms turn into adorable animals, and see how sea creatures on paper come alive on the digital screens at Sketch Aquarium.
The journey continues at Exploring New Frontiers. Let the kiddos scale heights at Aerial Climbing (an interactive artwork that creates unique visual patterns as you navigate the space), or sketch planes, butterflies and hawks on paper and let them take flight on the surrounding projections at Sketch Flight. Here’s where the crowd-favourite Crystal Universe is also located. Surrounded by dazzling crystals and lights, this scintillating space makes the perfect photo spot. Psst: check out our video for the best places to snap Instagram-worthy shots!
1pm: Fuel up with light bites and brews
Feeling peckish after all that exploration? Rest your feet and grab a quick bite at the lobby of the ArtScience Museum. The brainchild of homegrown popstar JJ Lin, Miracle Coffee is a convenient stop with its scrumptious menu of savouries, sweet treats, coffee and other beverages.
Enjoy artisanal pour over coffee made with Miracle Coffee’s beans, or signature drinks like the Singapore-exclusive Kaya Cloud (sweetened iced Americano topped with velvety kaya cream and gula melaka shavings). Pair it with pastries and sandwiches, such as the Rainbow Cloud and Kopi Choux puff, for a satisfying meal.
2pm: Step into an immersive world
It’s time to say goodbye to the museum ‘cos your next stop is at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Make your way to Basement 2, right next to the food court Rasapura Masters. Meet Digital Light Canvas, your gateway to a fantastical world of light and colour.
Another teamLab collaboration, this immersive art installation features an interactive LED floor that comes alive with every step. Let the young ones run free across the space, and watch in awe as exotic flowers bloom, giant koi fish swim and other stunning visual effects appear beneath their feet. The installation evolves throughout the day so keep a lookout for new patterns and animations. Psst: you can even customise a personalised, calligraphed message to appear on the floor!
Plus, there’s more hands-on fun ahead. At Sketch Factory, let your creativity run wild as you come up with art masterpieces and get them imprinted onto a tote bag, t-shirt or tin badge. Make it a personalised souvenir to remember this special family day, or create a unique gift for your loved ones that’s just in time for the holiday season. Tried and tested by our HoneyKids Asia’s Editor Syazana and her kids, this installation promises to be a blast.
4pm: Walk, shop and repeat
You’re at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Of course, you can’t leave without indulging in some retail therapy. This shopping paradise of all things luxury is where you can find some of the world’s most coveted premium brands and boutiques.
We’re talking about the world’s only floating Louis Vuitton Island Maison and a one-of-a-kind Apple store that’s completely surrounded by water. Browse the likes of Balenciaga, Chanel and Dior, with retail options for the little ones so the kids can get in on the fun, too.
6pm: Feast to your heart’s content
There’s no better way to wrap up a fruitful family day than with a feast. With the wide selection of gastronomic options and kid-friendly restaurants, it’s little surprise that you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Head to Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beers for classic New York-style indulgence. Sink your teeth into juicy craft burgers while sipping on over-the-top milkshakes that are mega photo-worthy. Another sure crowd-pleaser is Yardbird Southern Table & Bar. Let’s be real; who can resist juicy fried chicken that’s crisp on the outside and tender inside? Order the signature chicken and waffles served with chilled spiced watermelon, lobster mac and cheese, and smoked pork ribs for a satisfying spread.
Can’t decide on where to indulge? An all-you-can-eat feast at RISE Restaurant is the perfect solution. Come by for a lavish buffet spread of local favourites (think Singapore chilli crab and Australian wagyu beef cheek rendang), fresh seafood and sashimi, European and American classics, as well as Southeast Asian-inspired cocktails. No matter where you’re headed, one thing’s for sure: you’ll leave in a delicious food coma.
And there you have it. From immersive experiences at Future World and Digital Light Canvas to scratching the shopping itch, that’s your day out at Marina Bay Sands sorted. Make your way to this luxe destination to enjoy all this fun and more!
