In this series, we showcase the best local musicians and bands in Singapore who are shaping the Singapore Sound. This week, we present the infectious indie-rock of M1LDL1FE
Singapore’s much-loved, jangly pop band is no more; Take Two is dead.
But there’s no need to be melodramatic. One of Singapore’s most popular indie-rock bands is still around; they’ve just rebranded themselves – and it’s M1LDL1FE now. But despite having only one personnel change, an exit by guitarist Johnathan Lim, not much has changed.
A lot of what people love about Take Two – breezy and uncomplicated pop tunes, catchy enough for you to want to sing along – is present in the music of M1LDL1FE, from what we’ve heard so far on the recently released track, “Distraction”. It’s a little bit more polished, while the guitar arrangements remain colourful and catchy. Think sweet melodies reminiscent of bands like Two Door Cinema Club and Last Dinosaurs, but with more structure this time.
It’s fair to say that the band has passed their probation on their take two with the new track. Now, we’re looking forward to see what new material they have up their sleeves. Onward to their next phase in L1FE!
